SOURCES: Tyndall to Meet With NCAA on Tuesday

The NCAA doesn't like seeing the same coach in their office twice. The best case scenario is the Tyndall pleads ignorance. "I take full responsibility but I had no idea what was going on." This is essentially what he did when he got in trouble at Morehead St. The worst case scenario is that someone from inside the USM is behind this and actually has evidence against Tyndall. Generally speaking, the NCAA has a hard time proving stuff unless someone provides them with evidence (like a picture from a BBQ). The NCAA does not have subpoena powers, so they usually need someone to roll over on a coach.

Apparently one of the main witnesses is a disgruntled coach from Tyndall's previous staff. So, this would/could be first hand implication of Tyndall involvement. With Pearl, all his staff were willing to go down with the ship. I guess this is the guy Tyndall left behind to hire Pinkins. Anyone know?

This guy was Tyndall's Associate HC at Morehead. When Tyndall decided to leave Morehead he endorsed this guy to be his replacement. He didn't get the job, so he went to Southern Miss with the same title, AHC. After his first year he left USM to be closer to his kids or so the story goes, the move to USM made seeing his kids an 11 hour trip.

Maybe after spending a year off and with Tyndall now at Tennessee, he wanted to get back into coaching and the Inn was already full, total speculation on my part.

The NCAA knew Pearl lied before he confessed to it.

Yeah people in the athletic department knew the NCAA investigators had the photo minutes before they talked to Bruce. Competence would say hey Bruce as a heads up they have a photo they are going to ask about. Be forthright and things will be fine. Not just assume he will admit its house.

Tyndall wasn't accused of any wrongdoing at Morehead

Well, the NCAA did charge him with something in the Morehead St investigation.

The NCAA charged Tyndall with failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance and failure to monitor his staff's interactions with a booster, put Morehead State on probation for two years and levied penalties that included the loss of one scholarship for one season and the reduction of permissible recruiting days, phone calls and official visits.

But my previous post wasn't to state that Tyndall is guilty of anything while at SMU, but was simply stating that Cal is proof that the NCAA can investigate a program that you were coaching on multiple occassions and you still come out smelling like a rose.

I meant directly. They basically said he should've known about it and handled it, but didn't allege or charge him with direct involvement.

I know. And that was sort of my point. Cal was also deemed by the NCAA to not be directly involved in the issues at both UMass and Memphis, so going before the NCAA a 2nd time should not necessarily be a bad thing for Tyndall, as it was for Pearl, as long as Tyndall was not involved in the issues at USM.

Probably. Until the investigation is wrapped up and CDK is exonerated. #Hope

And then they will keep bringing it up --"UT coach Donnie Tyndall, who was implicated in irregularities during his tenure at Southern Miss but recently cleared..." blah blah blah.

Media likes to keep making provocative statements, so that there'll be plenty of tweets and other crap, as part of the modern-day gossip and popularity contest that has replaced good reporting.

"I swear Mr. Investigator, that's not my lawn. I'm not a Fescue guy. I have Zoysia to practice putting. Infinity pools are so 2006."

Random question, but was the photograph of Aaron Craft in Bruce's home that got him canned ever get released?

Link?

That's true. Hopefully at that point recruits and their family see it as you pointed out in you second paragraph. Not to mention with all the crap done these days, to my knowledge, the worst thing CDK could have done was hook a kid up with a way to get in school. ssmh
