FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- In a stunning move, the New England Patriots released veteran quarterback Cam Newton on Tuesday, turning things over to rookie Mac Jones as the starter, ESPN has confirmed.

Surprising.

I think Jones is a good fit for NE. I thought that was a good pick. But I'm still surprised at cutting Cam at this point.

Edit - Also, for Cam... if I was going to be a back-up QB, I wouldn't want it to be in NE. Maybe Dallas with Dak. But if I was Houston, I'd be on the phone with Cam's agent, like, yesterday.

I think Houston wants to tank (so they should get Cam)
