Personally, if we are going to fire Pearl, it should be for reasons regarding the NCAA investigation and nothing else. One subpar season doesn't merit a firing after a number of successful season. We still have top flight recruits waiting to see about our sanctions, so you know there's interest in Tennessee, developed by Pearl.
In my opinion, we would really have to be hit hard in order to lose any benefit of having Pearl as coach. I can deal with a 1 year swoon and keep Pearl, but, if it means 2-3 years + of garbage basketball and no decent recruit looking at us, then he needs to hit the road. All that depends on the sanctions.[/QUOTE. I can respect that. My view was formed in Sept when I adopted the assumption that UT will get hit hard, harder for keeping him. That has been my view, not based on any sources, just knowing how the NCAA rolls. The thing I think will hurt most isn't his lie, it is his active recruitment of others to lie as well. When I read that in the letter from UT to Pearl, I thought he should go. I can certainly see and respect your take though.
