Sounds like QD is going to transfer

Just because recruiting services call a guy dual threat doesnt mean he cant perform in a prostyle offense. He has all of the measurables af an elite pro style qb, and many qb gurus believe he can develop into a prototype sec qb, fortunately for him the coaches that didnt develop players are now gone.

I think jg is the better qb, but if we are talking about measurable let’s talk about height.. If Guarantano is 6-4 Dormady is 6-7. Never understood how they could list two guys at the same height, that when standing next to one another Dormady was atleast 3 or 4 inches taller. Jg is closer to 6-1 than 6-4, the question will be can he find the lanes to throw from the pocket behind the tall oline man.

I think Dormady is a lot more accurate most of the time that Guarantano. Dormady's mechanics do break down at times admittedly.

Dormady isn't as mobile as Guarantano, but Guarantano is not a dual threat QB either. Gitmo is just a mobile QB. That's about it. Guarantano is also extremely skinny and won't stay healthy if we depend on him to run the ball.

Dormady with some good coaching will be better than Peterman. I hope Dormady stays. If we truly intend to adopt a pro style offense, I haven't seen the type of accuracy needed from Guarantano. Dormady needs to be the starter.

Honestly, I don't think it is. Whether it was injury, distraction etc, QD just never looked comfortable.

While I don't think he is as strong at passing as either of the other 2, it seemed to me that McBride was more comfortable in the pocket than either JG or QD, especially for a true freshman.

I don't know why he would transfer. He has just as good a chance, if not better of earning the start based on his play. I saw some good drives from JG, but not a single complete game against a good opponent. If I'm QD, I am turning up the heat and working my ass off to win the start. If he does that, he has a really good chance, considering his arm talent vs JG.

With a new coaching staff, I would think they would all stay through spring to see what happens, then make a decision of whether to transfer.

QD had some of the worst receivers I've ever seen at Tennessee from dropped balls and botched routes. Highly touted Josh Palmer and BJ we're just tearing it up this year. You know Palmer just flew way under the radar and all these schools just missed out on him..(says Butch).

QD looked lost. JG had fire. That's about all we can take away from last season. Admittedly, with our line last year, QD wasn't going to get it done. Plus JG is younger, always go with the younger QB when they're even.

QD in the O&W Game made me think we had a spot on passing QB. For whatever reasons, he wasn't that as our 2017 starting QB. My guess is JG will be the guy in 2018. JG looked good except for a few bad coachable decisions and the rest of the team. jmho

I'm sure sorry azz CBJ allowed that type of attitude to develop to some degree but deep down the players sensed it and some just didn't give a f*#k. My gut tells me Pruitt will put 'em to work and if they can't hack it they won't see the field. The only reason they would transfer is to get the free ride and education. Most of 'em will want to play under the new coach IMO. UT has turned the page and we're moving on.

The page won’t turn until the fat is cut out
I expect a few more at the least

Injuries dont make you throw into four defenders, QD has questionable decision making skills and his Int numbers show it, JG took infinitely better care of the ball, thats not to say he doesnt have his deficiencies, like holding the ball to long, and not wanting to pull it in and get yards. However i feel a lot of that had to do with his confidence in his recievers running the right routes and his walk-on o linemen taking on some of the best defenses they played all year.

JG for a while didn't throw anything that would be considered dangerous. That itself can be bad depending on how you look at it. Yeah JG might go for 11/14 but when you only have 60 yards passing, high efficiency is not a good argument. The coaching staff knew that JG wasn't ready to slice up D's so they played it safe which is respectable. Why do you think they played Dormady until they finally couldn't? Obviously, Butch was not a great coach but he's not completely ignorant. Dormady in my opinion is clearly ahead of JG mentally but when it came to game time, he didn't have the confidence. Whether that be from OL or just nerves, idk.

Those that bash Dormady but say our team would be so much better with actual player development is an oxymoron. Under the right coaching and system, I honestly think both Dormady and JG can be very good players.

Agreed. It's a new slate for all QBs even Shrout.

Who is going to step up and lead? We need a true leader. A field general.

I would have taken QD over JG at the end of the season. JG didn't make many good decisions. he was kinda awful.

Hopefully on his way to bolstering his coaching resume with a NC ring to show recruits why they should come to Tennessee to Play for him.

Yeah, becaude flashing a ring with an a on it is what will pull top teir recruits to Tennessee.

The though of going for Alabama to win makes me puke.

JG was throwing to the same guys

If you don’t know the relationship between DM and the current UT AD that’s on you. Anything, and I mean anything Doug says on the show is approved by his close friend Phillip Fulmer. Matthews said “it appears QD will transfer”. Matthews said it appears JG is the QB of the near future. Matthews wouldn’t have addressed the QB situation in that depth without CPFs approval.

He and Phil are close but Phil as AD is not giving Doug as much info as before he was AD. I don’t have to talk to Phil to know QD could transfer and JG is our best QB.

Wouldn't shock me.

(A) Dormady was very close to Butch, and
(B) JG clearly outplayed him last season

JG is definitely the favorite to be the starter and should be an excellent fit inside Helton's system. Dormady has a lot of talent, though, and with the right coach, could be a very good P5 QB (sort of like Peterman).

JG didn’t out play anybody. Actually was quite disappointing how slow he is and he holds the ball way to long. Seems to be a whiny ***** also but just going by what I saw!

Hell McBride would at least throw the ball 5 yds past the line of scrimmage.

QD as a QB was 10 times better from what I saw!

It wasn’t clearly. But JG wasn’t as bad as Dormady. I think that’s the best way to put it.

REALLY? No way in hell we beat Ga tech or in the game with Florida with JG stat QB!
