Souce's Coffee Discussion Thread

How much ground coffee do you use? Do you make a full pot?

If I make a half pot I use 1/2 cup. Full pot 1 full cup. Both level.
I just make a cup at a time. I don't precisely measure, but my guesstimate is about 1.5 tablespoons per 8oz of water.

A cup at a time? You ain't no coffee drinker. Lol. You outta just drink hot tea.

Seriously, do you use a Keurig or similar that has the pod screen or whatever it's called? Mine has that but I don't use it.

I can only have one cup a day -- doctor's order. I use a Keurig with a screen filter most of the time, but I also have a smaller drip coffee maker that works well too. It will only brew 12oz max.

@Souce

How's your new coffee?

Do you eat yogurt? Long story I'll save you from, but I tried some Walmart brand (great value I think) lite yougurt. I tried several different types and added fruit. Blackberries and raspberries to the blackberry, banana to the banana creme etc.

I also wanted to see what thier version of my favorite dessert tasted like, Tiramisu.

You understand, It's Walmart brand lite yougurt. For what it is its awesome. I didn't add any fruit to it but I'm thinking a few chocolate covered espresso beans would be 😋

The Hawaiian coffee is good but I've had better. I made it stronger than our normal brew and it somehow still seemed not enough. Finishes smooth without that Starbucks type layer on the back of your tongue. While I like it I most likely will look elsewhere for the next Kona. Funny enough, the best that I have had before was bought at Smith's (Kroger) in the early 2ks in Utah. Brought about 5 lbs home and ran out quickly. May make the trek to Fresh Market and just buy some of their bulk.

@Behr I've decided to switch to Starbucks Italian Roast, exclusively.
I'm sure you remember me trying different ones but ultimately going back to it. It's perfect for my taste. I buy it from Amazon. The price goes up and down but even at its highest ($13 and change for 18oz bag) it's cheaper than what I paid at Walmart ($9.99 12oz.) And it's been as low as $9.99 for 18oz on Amazon.

Do you buy whole beans?

No.

I used to but quit.
Since I can't drink as much as I used to I've found the coffee stays much fresher if I only grind what I'm using for the day. I've thrown away so much ground coffee because it got stale before I could use it.

I set it up at night so it's ready when I get up. Seemed a waste to grind it just to let it sit out all night. I keep it in the freezer so it gives peace of mind that I'm at least trying to keep it fresh. I'm happy so it's all good.
