Sitting here listening to Chris Low on the Basilio radio show saying that Clawson wanted a QB competition in the Spring but Fulmer vetoed him and said Crompton was the starter partly based on seniority and partly based on a fear of repeating what happened with the Ainge/Clausen QB controversy. Now that it is obvious Fulmer tapped the wrong guy, Phillip is telling Clawson to play who he thinks is best. The same thing is happening at RB where Fulmer is now saying Drayton will decide who plays instead of insisting that Foster get the lion's share of carries. The Vols may play out of their heads and make something magical occur in Athens, but realistically this team is not prepared to beat a team on UGA's level right now. It looks to me like Fulmer is getting his ducks in a row to try and blame the new staff members for the bad season. I hope people will remember that Phillip is the one who hand-picked these coaches when he could've gone after more experienced assistants. I also hope the word gets out there that Fulmer handcuffed the offensive coaches and set them up to fail with his awful decision making.
That explains the offense, now what about the defense?

Yea
The defense is the problem, it's ranked 5th nationally, out of 119 programs
and the scoring offense is 103 out of 119
I'm not saying the defense is bad, but sometimes stats don't reflect reality. We have played some pretty poor offenses this year. Even UF didn't seem to want to put the pedal down. But after watching the UF-Ole Miss game, they might not have been that great either.

I hate how people assume that Coach Fulmer "handcuffs" the OCs. There is absolutely no evidence of this. Just "inside information." Basically, you are saying Randy Sanders would be a great OC.

And just for the record I think Fulmer should be gone at the end of the year, but that is because he simply isn't winning and I don't forsee that changing and he is the one who decides which assistants to hire.

No. I just see the whole picture. Clawson is this teams problem.

I disagree. If you were, you would see that this trainwreck has been gaining steam for the past seven years. We have already made stops at the towns of Mediocrity and Irrelevance. We are nearing Laughingstock, and Conductor Fulmer is moving full steam ahead to Doormat City.

GSVOL, who cares about your statistics that are scewed from Phil's record in the 1990s. Here is the only thing that matters: 7-19 against Auburn, Georgia, Florida and LSU since 2000. Thats all that matters, period.

And more than posting statistics, if you have watched every Tennessee game over the past 3-4 years you would know how unprepared our players look and what dumb misstakes they make.

I don't care what anyone says. Fulmer has been a bad coach the past few years, he's not gonna do well the rest of this season, and he is going to resign/get fired sometime this year.

No. I just see the whole picture. Clawson is this teams problem.

Actually, you see only a small part of the picture. You fail to see the most important piece. Hint: Who hired
Clawson? A manager is responsible for the productivity of his team.

And saying, this isn't Fulmers fault. Should he be responsible for hiring such a horrid o-coord? Yeah. But he saw potential, and it hasn't worked. I know, with an offense that has Foster, Creer, Hardesty, Jones, Taylor, great o-line, etc, we should be putting massive amounts of points, and we're not. 2 Years ago, with Coach Cut as O Coord, Crompton looked like another great QB, and it was looking like losing Ainge wouldn't be much of a drop off.

Buuuuuuuuuuuut. We lose Coach Cut when Crompton finally starts, and he gets hit with a completely new offense, completely new everything. Clawson makes him throw it 50 times a game, when our run game is very much dominant, and had we run it 30-40 times a game, we'd be 4-1 or undefeated this year. Fulmer doesn't call the plays. Clawson does. I really wish we had kept Trooper Taylor too, what a great man he was, great motivator.

Fulmer has brought us bowl games all but 1 year. And its been what, 16 years now? How can you complain about that? Oh, we don't get in the national championship game every year, we should fire him. Good lord. We play in the toughest conference year in and year out. We're not gonna win it every year. But we've contended each year but one of those 16 years.

I have to say, we have some of the worst fans, as far as being pleased goes. A good 60-70 teams wish they could be as successful as us, year in and year out. We can still turn this season around, and if we take away the play calling from Clawson, I think we can. Maybe Stephens will give this team a lift. I dunno.

Maybe he's a better fit then Crompton at QB. Maybe he's who we need to run this type of offense. But I still think we should pass 20 times, run it 40. We have 3 backs who would be starting on basically any team in America. If we win this week vs Georgia, I see a turn-around coming. If not, 7-5 at best.

We can still make a season out of this.

I don't even quite know where to start in attacking your post because virtually every sentence in your post is incorrect.

It's quite laughable that you believe that our 3 backs would be starting on basically any team in America.

I'm not Fulmer's biggest fan, but we're not gonna get much better then him right now. Sorry.
Yes, we can "get much better." Do you realize how many great coaches there are out there who have passed CPF in modern football (which we are not playing) and are dying to coach in the SEC?

No. I just see the whole picture. Clawson is this teams problem.

Let’s look at some REAL numbers, going from 1999:

Years without SEC title: 9
Years without BCS bowl: 8
Years without top 10 ranking: 6
Years without AP Top 25 ranking: 2000, 2002, 2005, (2006-25th)
Years with 3 or more losses: 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 (6 straight years)
Years with multiple losses to unranked teams: 2003, 2005
Feb. 08 - 8 arrested in 6 weeks

You're right...it's all Clawson fault. Geez...

I echo your sentiments exactly, Right on old chap. This season can be salvaged but we need an airtight mistake free game from the boys this weekend. Let's get this mother started this week by kicking them stinking dogs!!!!!!

don't discount the Florida game...
They held them to 10 points in the second half of that game and Tebow went the whole way

One of Tebow's major accomplishments was th 53% completion rate, he trough it away a lot instead ov taking a chance on an interception.

Statistics, even the score, don't always tell the whole story.

With new members like Stan and Titan, Freak may increase the number of posts required for attaining 'senior member' status.

Fulmer has brought us bowl games all but 1 year.

Not that hard to do these days. All you need is a record over .500 to get into a bowl.

Oh, we don't get in the national championship game every year, we should fire him. Good lord.

Nice tactic here. You should be a politician. Ignore the reasonable expectations most people have, replace them with unattainable ones, then claim the expectations that you made up (that we supposedly have) are ridiculous. I have yet to hear anyone even insinuate that we should be in the national championship game every year. I especially like how you added "Good Lord", as if you're tired of hearing something that nobody says.

I have to say, we have some of the worst fans, as far as being pleased goes.

I would argue we also have some of the worst fans as far as being displeased goes. Some of you will always be pleased as long as Phil is around, forget about the lack of wins or championships. Fulmer is more important to you than the program.

Where's the logic in this statement. If Crompton was this good and Cut was also so good. Are you saying that there would be no carry over from one year to the next. I never saw any real skill when Jonathan enter the game.
