Sorry Ducks, I just couldn't Take It Anymore....

A few points:

1) Oregonlive is the absolute worst place to get sucked into commenting about anything, let alone sports.

2) We know we were historical ciphers. We don't generally care either.

3) UW Husky fans are almost solely responsible for the anti-tradition vibe you get from Ducks fans. We don't give a damn what they did when they were playing high schools, ship's crews and anyone else they could find to pad their historical record. Nor do we care what they were doing when parachute pants were all the rage either. Inevitably, this attitude spills over when we play "traditional" powers from the bigger mouths in our fan base.

4) Sorry if you were offended. I respect UT. They were the exotic team that came out west in the 70s to play my father's UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl for an OOC tilt. He used to tell me that you were about the only school in the South with the balls to travel. It's still largely true today.

im not exactly sure what your comment was my eyes didnt stray from your avatar long enough to read it hahaha
:good!:

lol......it is funny when the mighty have fallen so far and they don't even know it.

You can't even come up with something real to say. Can you contribute something other than what the rest of you say? We were screwed out of a title game in 2001. How can we win it if we are kept out? A blown knee kept us out again in 2007. Oh we have had our chances and we have had bad luck, for anyone to think we are no good is fine with me. Those will just be the fans that are talking to themselves on the way home saying....what the hell happened?

This isn't the past brah, this is the present......you will see.....lol

Dude you sound pathetic. You come on here talking like the ducks are some kind of dynasty and they have been winning NCs.The only reason you people dont talk about your past is because you dont have one to talk about.I dont think nobody is saying the ducks are no good because they are.I have read posts to where some of you people think we have never seen a team like the ducks before, speed, spread and those puke colored uniforms.Nike has those players running around looking like something in a circus.
The sad part is if you cant beat us this year and were rebuilding then that should tell you where Oregons program really is.Plus if you cant beat us this year then theres 6 or 7 more teams in the SEC you wont be able to play with.

it's not completely empty but it seems...lacking

Is that Montanas trophy shelf ?

And it doesn't look like this one will be entering that case anytime soon...lulz

Tennessee would have to quit playing football for 25 years at least while Oregon would have to win a minimum of 25 years straight for them to catch upto to this legendary program in wins.....the trash talking duck fans don't get it....they're program is new to being above mediocre...we're new to it....and we won't be much longer.

I'm all for tradition and history, it's a great thing to have. My question is, what exactly is tradition going to do for you saturday, or next week, next year, or even 10 years from now?

Show me a fan base that thinks history is irrelevant and I'll show a fan base that doesn't have one. If I were a Ducks fan I wouldn't worry too much though. They're not going anywhere. They'll have some hardware to brag about sooner or later. After the 2001 season I expected them to fall back to mediocrity but they've hung around long enough now that's its probably safe to say they belong with the big boys.

Bout to find out. :ermm:

Well, some of us duck fans have been fans since before the ducks were respectable. I remember a game when neither the ducks or their opponent could win (0-0 tie w/ OSU, called 'the toilet bowl') plus many other indignities (including the ones already mentioned in this thread :( )

I sense alot of vitriol towards UO coming from this board, whereas i'd say like 95% of duck fans respect Tennessee. Most of us DO in fact view it as a privelige to play in another classic, timeless stadium and to travel to a part of the country alot of us will never see (although i doubt anybody will remove their shoes :p ). We've heard all about how great a location Neyland is and how fun tailgating and indeed the entire atmosphere at Neyland is. I know several folks from tennessee (river guides out here most of them) and they are wonderful humans and represent you Vol fans with respect and class.

There was a large discussion amongst duck faithful not too long ago where most of us realized that in order to get respect, you must give respect where it is due. Duck fans cried 'SEC is too chicken to come play us!'. This is not far from the truth, but chicken is too harsh of a word. Smart is the word i'd use. Why travel across the entire nation to have a VERY good chance of losing to a nobody school that will ruin your chance for a national title? The good old boy powers that be in the south and other locations are too smart and entrenched to do something so foolish. The realization was made (albeit slowly) that maybe other more southern or eastern schools wouldn't balk so readily at coming to our house if we went to their house, showed respect, represented ourselves well, and had a good time win or lose. I believe you will find this is the case when you meet some duck fans. At least, i hope so.

Now, certainly there are alot of tools that claim to be duckfans, and yes, alot of them are bandwagon fans. And lets face it, the internet has given everybody a voice, and alot of folks use that voice to anonomously talk sh!t on the internet. Judging all of us duck fans by what you've read on the internet from a sensationalist publication like oregonlive just degrades you and us.

We're all hoping for a great football game and an oregon victory and maybe a good time w/ SEC fans. Seems like an opportunity for both sides to maybe gain a little respect for one another.

Living in the past is just as foolish and short sighted as ignoring the past.

good luck Vols! I'll be back saturday night to either congratulate you or eat crow

GO DUCKS!!!

ps, you guys sound nothing like fuskies :)

pps, thanks for onterrio!!!

I think a lot of the vitriol that is coming out is coming from the very young on this board. I think most of the old timers.. yeah.. I guess I am one of those... look at this game as an opportunity for Tennessee to showcase our program to the rest of the country. Unlike the punk in Gainesville, we don't have the luxury to walk out on the back porch and pick up 5 star recruits so we have to look at a bigger base. That's why I am looking forward to coming out to UO in 2 years to experience YOUR culture and atmosphere. I have been to several of the Pac 10 games we have played out there, and the fans for the most part have been great. There are rednecks and buttheads everywhere unfortunately though.. and if you are going to Knoxville I hope you find none of them...

Here's to a good game.. and a BIG ORANGE VICTORY~~

That 1960 Liberty Bowl trophy sure is scary. Especially when you consider that they lost that game 41-12 to Penn State. How the hell did they get a trophy for that?

Oregon also lost the 1990 Freedom Bowl 32-31 to Oklahoma St and have a trophy for that too. The 1996 Cotton Bowl was a 38-6 pasting by Colorado. What the hell?

:lolabove: :eek:lol: :lolabove: :eek:lol:

I needed that laugh. Thanks for pointing those out.
