Oregon Ducks rundown: The Ducks' next challenge? Neyland Stadium | OregonLive.com

Wow, nice to hear all the confidence from the "Mighty Ducks" of Oregon! I remember the good old days myself, when Tennessee was a perennial contender. The content of this message board suggest most of the Oregon fans on here were not alive 14 years ago. You might not be aware of this, but you guys sucked pretty bad YOUR WHOLE HISTORY UP UNTIL THAT POINT. Reference: Oregon Ducks football - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now, just 3 quick things:

1) The record at Neyland stadium for attendance is 109,061, Autzen Stadium record is 59,597. That is a mere difference of 49,464, so yes, you guys are pretty close... Well actually, you aren't.

2) Tennessee CLAIMS 6 National Titles, I promise you not all of them are legitimate. Really, I'd say we have 3 REAL and 3 BS ones. You guys CLAIM 0. Yep, not even a BS one.

3) You all have had a pretty good run since 1995. Take the last 14 years away from you guys and you are barely a .500 team. (425-409) Tennessee already had 5 CLAIMED National Titles by that point, with one more (and first ever BCS) LEGIT National Title 3 years later.

I know you guys are relatively new to this whole "winning thing", but please, do yourselves a favor and show a little class to the "Old Guard", even when they have a couple bad years. It wouldn't take more than a few bad years recruiting, a coaching mistake, or an NCAA penalty for your own beloved Ducks to quack their way back to mediocrity.

P.S. For the "Lucky Ducks" that get the privilege of being allowed to enter Neyland Stadium this weekend, please take your shoes off when entering the building. Like Moses, "You are on Holy Ground..."

Should I have done it? Who cares? They were talking crap about the team I have loved and will love my whole life. :salute::yes::birgits_giggle:

Good work on telling those clowns who post on OregonLive what's up. Thank god I didn't have to navigate those godawful forums to find that.

Buuuuuut I'd say Oregon's been a more successful program than UT over the last decade-ish. Not by a lot, but more successful.

I just want a win so I can shut all my friends up. Most of them are bandwagoners who never followed CFB until Oregon got good (even when OSU did, there weren't that many -- I guess they'll never be fashionable in Corvallis). Most of them are not aware that UT is one of the winningest programs in CFB history. Maybe if you're lucky they'll recognize it as that one school Peyton went to.

Vols, please please please win on Saturday so that these ingrates my shut up for a week. Thank you.

I fully admit that Oregon has had more success over the last decade. I said that take away the last 14 seasons and what are they? Answer: Average at best...

A few points:

1) Oregonlive is the absolute worst place to get sucked into commenting about anything, let alone sports.

2) We know we were historical ciphers. We don't generally care either.

3) UW Husky fans are almost solely responsible for the anti-tradition vibe you get from Ducks fans. We don't give a damn what they did when they were playing high schools, ship's crews and anyone else they could find to pad their historical record. Nor do we care what they were doing when parachute pants were all the rage either. Inevitably, this attitude spills over when we play "traditional" powers from the bigger mouths in our fan base.

4) Sorry if you were offended. I respect UT. They were the exotic team that came out west in the 70s to play my father's UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl for an OOC tilt. He used to tell me that you were about the only school in the South with the balls to travel. It's still largely true today.

I'm sorry for my stereotype of Oregon Duck fans as all being "classless". Obviously, there ARE those that show evidence of said quality, so I formally retract said statement. I have high hopes now of finding more Duck fans of this one's respectability. Well played sir, well played... :peace2::salute:

Alums of the university and some others are great to tailgate with. As with most other trendy programs, UofO bandwagoners are insufferable.

So Army fans can legitimately talk **** to us by that reasoning.

You seem like a decent fellow; whatever happens in our game, go home and beat the tar out of USC.

agree, we are coming back towards being as relevant as a school that requires the ability to read can be, though, with Ellerson's offense.

You can say whatever you want as long as that avatar of yours keeps showing up here.

It is pretty sad, as Volunteer fans, that all we have to hold onto is our past and what we used to be. That really sucks.

This is exactly right. I plead with UT fans. Be proud of your awesome tradition, and your stadium, and all that. You have the right to be. However, please do not smack talk programs that "weren't good before 1990, but have been better than you for 10 years." I think Oregon fans really want to like and respect the Volunteers, but we won't be able to if you start acting like Washington fans.
Not all programs have the fortune of being "traditional powers." But I'm proud of my ducks for finding their own unique path this past decade, and making their mark on the college football landscape. Fifteen years ago, this game would be an afterthought to UT.

Be optimistic about the present and future, but don't live solely in the past.

True enough, but it is what it is. I get the feeling we are on our way back...of course, hope springs eternal!

It's almost like being a Bammer, but... then again, Alabama won a national title last year. :furious3:

During the UT Martin game it was on the jumbo-tron that TN football has the most wins since 1926. :good!:

We used to say things like this to Florida fans also, can't say that it helped all that much.
