Sorry Dooley, no one wants to hear it!

Maybe I do need to go away. I have only been going to games since 1990 when I was 8. I was in tempe in 98 and 99, and atlanta for every sec champ. Maybe I do need to go! I will not except moral victories. Sorry!

You and many others miss the point. There is no victory other than a win. We get that. But the pieces are coming back together, and it is ok to feel good that we are headed upward, not downwards.

But will you "accept" them?

not worth continuing this back and forth amongst fellow fans. Dooley will not be here past next year and he may be gone this year. That much is obvious to me. Not much more to say.

So how many trips to the ATL? You must have been watching some other teams play, remember a lot of bama and Fl playing not us. This guy came to one F'd up school when no other big time coach stepped up for the job. I think he's doing ok with what he got which was crap.
If nothing else he has this team fighting which is more than I can say than we did last year and at the beginning of this year. Two more years we are back and able to win most games. Sorry it can't be tomorrow. Nothing like saying once your on top, I went through the bad years and pulled for my team or you can be the bandwagon fan who jumps on and off the wagon. I prefer to pull for my team and coaches thats what we have.

Please welcome Dave Hart to VN everyone

Can we have a round of applause?
He's going to lose some key players.

The schedule will be harder next year.

He's not exactly killing it in recruiting this year.

The buyout is halved after next season.

It doesn't take alot of football smarts to see the writing on the wall. He might be safe with 7-8 wins and the $5 million buyout this year but it'll take a miracle to save him next year. I know you'd like to hold out and see if the miracle occurs and I guess perhaps it could but the chances are infinitesimal.

He's turned liquid diarreah into firm poo. That's about it. Did you pitch a fit to keep Bill Battle? Time to turn the page.

Maybe you should. I too get butt hurt at times when someone disagrees with me. So I go away for a bit and forget about it.

Just because you went to some away games doesn't mean flashing your Vols credentials somehow justifies putting the team and coaches down. If you haven't already, read Napervol's post, post #153. Been said often but now can be said with a positive insert. The UT football program was allowed to fall into shambles by Fulmer, screwed over by Lane. CDD has rebuilt it to being better than it was but not to the historical Ut standards. If nothing else, the Georgia game shows us we're getting there. Not as fast as you, I, or most Vols fans want but it is now clear we're coming.

1. We can run the ball again.
2. We hang with and can certainly beat ranked teams though that hasn't happened yet.

I think what we really need to do now is serious focus on recruiting for the defense, especially CBs, SS, and faster LBs. We're almost there despite the CDD hating. I've lost a bit of joy for Chaney since the Florida game. But he did call the Georgia game rather well. I'd like to see him meet with Hart regarding an understanding about consistency on his part. But otherwise, BigOrange04, we're getting there. Now go away, take some time to cool off and actually look at what CDD has done to bring the program as far as this. Without a magic wand to boot. Like the USA during WWII, we were on our heels and losing at every turn. Then we had our Midway turning point. The Vols haven't gotten their Midway yet but they will and it will be this season. So go away and get some realistic perspective then come back. But right now, I can grasp a bit of how you feel.

Oh, goodbye cruel world, I'm off to join the circus
Gonna be a broken-hearted clown
Paint my face with a good-for-nothin' smile

Gotta find a way to hide my tears
Bet I'll have them rolling in the aisle

Oh oh oh, step right up and take a look at a fool
He's got a heart as stubborn as a mule
C'mon everybody, he's good for a laugh
And no one could tell his heart is broken in half

Well, the joke's on me, I'm off to join the circus
Oh, Mr. Barnum, save a place for me
Shoot me out of a cannon, I don't care
Let the people point at me and stare

woodsman, I'm not taking up for BO'04, but I do want to respond to your post because it articulates exactly what I fear alot of people will take away from the game yesterday. While yesterday was exciting and it was very refreshing to be in one of these games in the 4th quarter, UGA made alot of mistakes with the ball on offense and they pretty much had thier way with our defense. I cannot look at yesterday's game in its totality and say for a fact that this team has turned any kind of corner.

Thank you.. As it has been explained or posted here a million times.. Moral victories don't mean Do-Do....as excited as everyone is, this team didn't win and we let yet another one slip on by..yes I'm on both sides here so please don't start that negative 💩with me..

Explain it then. First off, how many years is it going to take? And don't start with the depth crap. We had true freshman running backs rolling our D tonight and they aren't freshman. So how many years of recruiting and "coaching" do we suffer through before Dooley gets it right? Do tell....

seems like everybody forgets that we have 7 new coaches on staff, one which is the DC.people ,these players will, donot learn this new system in a couple of months. It took Ga. a whole year for them to learn the 3/4.
I'm not happy about the way the defense is playing right now,but hope they will improve as the year goes along.

Dooley is looking like a real coach, and the team is looking like a real team. They have their weak spots, but they also have their strengths, and they're getting stronger. Despite losing a fine player to ACL injury, this was definitely a better team than we saw against Florida.

The last sentence in his press conference about we will get over the hump. Sorry, but no one wants to hear that right now.

I disagree. A lot of fans want to hear coach speak and excuses. They want to hear a coach use the cliche's (sp?) they hear on ESPN everyday.

This fan base is clueless. It's sad

You are so right, at least about the majority. Why do our fans have such a hard time understanding what it takes to "get back" to where we were. Most will concede that Dooley had an absolute mess to start with but are blind to the evidence of progress.

If we have a team that is being blown out against all ranked teams, wouldn't being competitive be the most natural next-step? Becoming competitive usually happens by closing the gap on teams and losing by smaller margins. Then once you get a team believing they can win.....

I'm excited about the progress I see in recruiting, coaching upgrades and now competitiveness on the field. My only reservation presently is how bad the defense is. Hard to win giving up big plays every game. I'm not convinced CSS is an upgrade over CJW but I'm willing to wait and see progress. We could have used some of the "bend and don't break" defense yesterday.

So the, it takes time ****, needs to stop! We need to win a big game that we are in, or we need to look elsewhere. Go Vols!!

this is all dooley has, excuses.
