Excellent post. Well said. Its kind of strange. Reading the practice reports, it seemed like most of the time when you heard about a player standing out, it seemed to be the new guys. Pruitts recruits. Not all the time but it seemed like a lot. We need more Colton Jumpers.

That's why I DO think that given another cycle of recruiting, making it 3 years of Pruitt recruits, things will be better. I hate preaching wait, and it doesnt excuse Saturday. Pruitt and staff can do things to help. But your leadership comes from your upperclassmen. And outside of JJ, Bituli, Darrell Taylor and Trey Smith, you dont have those leaders. The upperclassmen from Butch got spoiled with the pansy approaches he took to practice and game prep. They aren't used to hard work. And I wonder how JPs culture gels with them. I wonder if JP would even keep them around if he didn't need bodies. If this were 5 years ago, he would have cut them and then recruited a class of 35 kids. But we can't now. I just think culture is the hardest thing to change and we are seeing why.

HOUSE CLEANING??? A guy (maybe a really dedicated guy-one who wanted to be on a team that cared) is leaving, I wish him the best of luck. We do need a house cleaning, but it should start with those that need to go, not a guy that wants to go, contribute somewhere-and play football. If he'd have played against GS, do you really think we'd have done any worse? From what I'm able to get from the net, virtually zero players on the GS team, were recruited by UT, and had they been, they too would be sitting on the bench-while our coaches put guys on the field that just "ain't getting it done". Desire to win, desire to contribute to the team, often can over come statistically predictable outcomes-GS comes to mind.

It's fair to mention that in order for Saban to turnaround Alabama, in 2008 he signed 32 players, 22 of which were 4 and 5 stars. In 2009, he signed 27, 18 of which were 4 and 5 stars. That might not seem huge, but if you could send packing 9 players that arent playing the way you want, and get 9 players who you recruited personally, wouldnt that help?

Freshmen and Sophomores can't win in the SEC.

Sir, your post is based on fact and reason! The only thing I take exception with is: CP is NO Saban! Maybe some of the "not ready for play' guys, given a chance could surprise the hell out of you, GS again comes to mind.

And they have cracked down on over signing players the last two years. That adds to the problems of turning over the team and stocking players with better talent. I hope that they can get more talented graduate transfers to help guide the 2020 signees.

Why is it that other coaches, after 21 months in a program, are able to affect culture, and player performance, but Pruitt can't or shouldn't be able to have a positive effect on players who were recruited and coached by the previous staff?

Pruitt was only at Florida State a single season, with someone else's recruits, wasn't an issue there. Was at Georgia for 2 seasons with someone else's recruits, wasn't a problem there. So shouldn't we expect him to do the same at UT?

True, but Pruitt wasn’t the Big Cheese at Georgia or FSU. Now that he is, there are big adjustments for him. Hopefully he will grow into the job.

Get rid of the ones who don't want to be here. Honestly, I would take going 0-12 if it meant that we got the Butch stink off of this program and got guys in here who truly wanted to be here and play their hearts out. Honestly, Pruitt's recruits seemed to be the only ones who gave a crap the other night.

Not so sure they played all that well either.

First of a few I hope. Gotta ruffle a few feathers and make some changes. Hope the guy finds success elsewhere, but hopefully this leads to a good recruiting opportunity.

Hope our recruits are not noticing how UT fans trash our players. If I were a recruiter for another SEC school I would flag this thread.
You wouldn't need to flag this thread-just let them watch the game film!!! If I were a recruiter going up against UT for a player, I'd have plenty of DVD of the GS game ready to hand out- let the recruit do his own trashing!

People said the same thing about Dooley's players when Butch was hired.

It's a revolving door that apparently erases memory. It's the only conclusion I can come to since people seem to say the same things every time a new coach is hired.

Kind of interesting considering Terrell bailey and Jordan Murphy are practically conjoined at the hip. I’ve never seen one without seeing the other

We aren't trashing anyone. We are saying that if you come in and you aren't going to compete, as evidenced by (1) not giving 100% in practice and in games, (2) posting a tweet laughing at how your very own team lost, or (3) entering your name in the transfer portal one game into the season, then we don't need or want you. In my opinion, that makes you a quitter, that you'd be willing to be contacted by other programs during the season instead of focusing on being a part of your team.

Anyone who enters the portal at this point in the season needs to go. Unless there is some unbeknownst reason that is genuine, there is very few good reasons to transfer after one game.

This team ain't family. They are out for themselves. And honestly? I think that's a result of "Butch's Guys" versus "Pruitt's Guys." And there are some guys that Butch recruited that I am thrilled to have around. Chandler, JJ, Shamburger had some great plays the other night, and others. Those guys have bought in, and they're playing hard. And some others just need to go.

So no, we aren't trashing anyone. But we are trashing the attitudes that many of these players are displaying. And if a recruit looks at that and wants to go elsewhere, then that means that they'd probably be the same way, so good riddance.
If you want to trash anyone trash the coaches. It is their job to get players ready and they are making big bucks. Trashing players will only further kill recruiting.

I always take up for the fans when they are criticized because we are asked to swallow a lot. But trashing student athletes is detrimental to our future. If JG is a problem then that is on the coaches for playing him and not having him developed. Likewise for any other player.

Wow, Jordan Murphy kicked off team for his ignorant post-yet there are those that would love to give a man that has a history of assaulting women a third chance, something is out of balance.
