At the start of this process, everyone was bright eyed and bushy tailed, KNOWING it wasn't a matter if you'd get a homerun hire, but WHO would tripping over themselves to leave their cushy positions to take over UT?

Flash forward a few weeks and you've:

Lost out on Gruden...Again.
Rioted on campus (deservingly) to prevent a terrible hire.
Rioted on Twitter to prevent another terrible hire.
Got thoroughly finessed by Mullet Mike...Again.
Got turned down by some dude named Chad.
Had your president veto two very solid hires by the AD you hate.
AD you hate is fired...Find he might have never been the problem.
Bring back back (arguably) the greatest coach in your teams history...Find he might actually be the REAL problem.

Probably end up with Kevin Steele when it's all said and done, and probably put the last shovel full of dirt on the program...Oh my goodness.

Am I missing anything?

missing some, yes:
11:20 Trey Wallace
John Currie looks to be giving the National Media a lot of false ammunition right now. #Tennessee

11:40 Stephen Hargis
From what I’ve gathered so far, I wouldn’t believe some of the stuff about Fulmer backstabbing Currie for the AD job. Been told that’s more Currie throwing Phillip under the bus to his national media contacts

11:43 Dan Harralson
I have been told by a prominent UT booster that Fulmer along with many donors planned today's events & is not at a bad look towards Fulmer. Haslam had Fulmer fired in 2008. Haslam & Currie planned alone in attempt to hire Schiano & never talked to Gruden or any other candidates.

I would add that every bit of this happened incredibly publicly too. It's one thing to screw up behind the scenes, whole nother ball game to do it on the grand stage.

Right about the timeline and events. But at the heart of it all is an all out struggle for power among 3 or 4 factions and the average fans are being drug through the mud. By most accounts, Leach was close to agreement with the besieged AD before Fulmer stepped out of the shadows with his dagger to blow it all up hoping to land the AD position for himself. Blackburn is the guy who should have gotten the AD position from the start and we wouldn't have endured this national humiliation. Unfortunately, Fulmer remains a divisive force himself who is backed by one of power factions willing to keep this circus going to get the AD job for Fulmer.

not sure about all the word choice here, but basically yes.

but still also missing the main point of removing the haslam influence from making the decisions in the UTAD.

it's an easy thing to push the "stab in the back" narrative. there's certainly motive. but that motive exists for all the players, including haslam.

The only thing you missed is Haslam. He is the cancer that is eating the program alive from the inside out. By the time this all plays out we might be a Sun Belt level team playing in the SEC.

Well they should be, because they just got a far better coach than either of their last two hires, and probably miles better than what Tennessee will end up with.

All I'm saying they know no championship in their future. As far as Tennessee were I don't know what to say.

Rarely give gator credit for anything, but summed it up pretty darn accurately. Don't forget about media outlets salivating over material they don't have to go looking for...just wait 15 minutes and you've got another person jumping in

You want some real twilight zone stuff? The 2 best posts during this entire "coaching search" have been by Gator fans. This one and 99Gator's the other day.

Tennessee is going to wind up with Tyrone Willingham and the fans will still think they are "winning" and "owning the process"

Nope, that is pretty close.

Since our program is dead, my question is do I send carnations or roses for the funeral spray. This is SICK! And if ( I said IF) Fulmer is involved then shame on him.
