The good news is that this ends all controversy. I'll take Gregg Marshall, or the basketball equivalent of Butch Jones. We have all the tools to have a great BB program. The only thing lacking is the right coach. Time to get him.

Had there NOT been a petition, Hart still wouldn't have given him a large extension or raise, so he was bound to leave anyway.

I,personally think Hart handled this very well.

(1) Firing Martin would have cost us a buy out.

(2) Firing Martin after making the Sweet 16 would look bad on a national level.

(3) Giving Martin a big raise and a longer extension, while knowing that next season would not be a good year for men's basketball would not be good.

( Refer to Fulmer raise & extension after the 2007 S.E.C. Championship game, then in 2008, he was fired and owed a larger buy out)

Hart got rid of Martin and didn't look bad nationally and didn't owe a buy out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did NOT particularly want Martin gone but Hart handled the situation real well. Mutual parting of ways!!!!!!!!!

last time i checked, KY does very well with super star true freshman every year. We get the right coach and one or two good recruiting classes, we're right back in it.

1. Stokes leaving increases the odds of a poor season next year (wonder if Stokes new something?)

2. CCM already had a temperamental relationship with the fan base and Dave Hart (winning changes everything).

3. California certainly has a more laid back and racially friendly environment - no doubt he heard some unsettling things from a small minority of our Fans

4. We have an opportunity to get better

5. I'm disappointed only because he turned down Marquette and I believed every word he said about wanting to be here, our facilities, etc.

6. A program disruption in basketball compared to football is comparing apples to oranges

Why is it that no one thought to think about maybe Martin also pushed Stokes out of Tennessee? I mean come on, after all this that's coming out about him not even notifying players or anyone, does anyone think that he was going to leave soon and decided to tell Stokes to leave also to screw over UT? :whistling: Just a thought. Also if Hart can hire ANYONE with the attitude/passion/ect like CBJ then basketball will be just fine, if not better. :)

I know Martin was not treated the best, but if being mistreated means you get a 500k raise and a two year extension then I want everyone on this board to mistreat me.
