No argument here. I have already moved on. Just am ready to stop hearing about how UT fans and AD "mistreated" Cuonzo. Looks to me that the door has swung both ways in this relationship and both parties are best off going our separate ways.

Any decent coach in the country could have accomplished what Martin did here. Last years sweet 16 team should have been a 3 seed at worst but instead they have to play just to make the tourney. Then they beat Iowa who had lost 6 of their last 7, UMASS - the worst 7 seed in recent memory - and Mercer who had the game of their life to beat Duke. Now I could pull a drunk frat guy off the couch and accomplish the same results. Martin is a joke and will be back in the OVC in a few years.

If a coach with a .602 record is the equivalent to a frat guy off the couch then hey if we find a frat guy sitting in a lazy boy recliner they should take us to a national championship huh?!?

You talking about how we were seeded? Dude all he can do is play the seed he is given out of his control.

What did you expect VN? Dude interviewed at Marquette right after they lost in the tourney. He was taking the first train out of Rocky Top. It's a tough gig for a wannabe at TBA. Too much fan support and expectations for the faint of heart.

If true, I guess when Cuonzo was being described as a "High Character" guy, people meant Nick Saban type high character! :blink:

If your the Head Coach (regardless of sport) at major school (like Tennessee) in a major power conference (like the SEC) you can't let things like that get to you.

On the other hand if your holding up your end of the deal by winning games then none of that comes about and the fans will be behind you.

When that petition come about we were in no where near the NCAA tournament and his job was most certainly in question!!

tennessee basketball is set back a minimum of 5 years now. maybe fans will learn from this. i would rather have had 20 win seasons and be mediocre than have losing seasons which is what will happen now for at least the next few seasons. i wonder how many current players we will lose.

Where's that poster that always seemed to back CCM and his avi was Martin yelling? Did he change his avi or did he fall off the board? I would be interested to get his take on this since he seemed to have the inside on a lot of things concerning the mens bball program.

A minimum of 5 years?? Dude WAKE UP. A quality coach, two quality recruiting classes and you're right back in the top 25 and playing in the tourney. Not saying it's a guarantee by any means but is extremely possible.

I doubt it. The one thing that Martin proved in his three seasons at UT is that he lacked the enthusiasm, passion and energy to properly motivate his players. The only time they got motivated was when they learned of the petition.

Next season without Stokes would have been a disaster had Martin stayed at UT.

Now, UT can move forward and find a coach that has the right qualities for the job.

This is a good move for both parties involved.
