Diamond dozen other coaches out there. We have potential coaches from lots of smaller schools looking into Tennessee to be honorably promoted to the next coach in the big orange. Many are minor league and not so many are big name, before you squint your eyes in suspicion here. Im a quality over quantity guy, and so we have to filter out a lot of potential prospects. With so many schools in the same predicament, we have to make a brazen hire. The smaller named coaches are biting at the chops to take the Tennessee job. Its generally how these coaching revolutions go, smaller names turn to bigger names at big name places. So you have a carousel of coaches to pick from, Danny White can easily filter junk. But Danny is also THE GUY who could also make a home run hire from unsuspecting names.

HOME RUN HIRE. KEY WORDS.

So yes, some hidden gems may be around. Yeah ok, risky play there. We've tried it before. There are also tons of open slots from the other teams having the same situation, but when you look at it objectively we have the perfect moment for a real night in shining armor-- Jon Gruden, to become the next vol head coach. He is a strategist not a tactician, and you can tell hes been waiting for this moment a long time now. The media buzz and hype would be at an all time high, free marketing daily for our brand. He is reputable, well known, gets along with players.. he's truly a guy's guy. And he may have been waiting for this all along. He sees we cannot get over the hump, so to say. We've got by with the skin of our feet for too long on mid tier coaches from low level positions, but its time for a real swing at the best.

You have to create separation from the status quo, and he is obviously a gigantic form of such. Imagine the recruiting knowing you have a coach who has taught ball at a higher level. And he's alluded to becoming our ball coach before. The whole Knoxville shout outs over the past decade. For all intensive purposes he could win 10 games a season.

Everyone wants to peacefully let Heuple go, so we have an escape goat (Heuple) for the resurrection of Gruden Mania. Never have I felt so good about a coach replacement at the last second. A simple swap. Heuppel -> Gruden. I could care less about people who think this is far fetched. It is entirely possible to have an NFL GOAT as head ball coach. We would be able to nip it in the butt all the GRUDEN searching we've had for so long

Gruden was only waiting for the best time to enter the showroom and become the hero with a big salary. It was all timing. I dont want to take it for granite but there really is a call here for Gruden and $$$$$$$$$ to back it up. Incompetent coaches are the last thing we need to hire. Get gruden now. The rest are one in the same. We've tried all that.1000058646.jpg

It's a joke man, which I posted due to the Penn State rumor. I don't want to fire Heupel and think that would be stupid to do so, as I have said numerous times. That said Grudenmania was always fun, especially the last time when most of us knew it wasn't a real thing but we were in it for the memes, etc.

Dabo has a NC or 2, I can't recall. Richt never won chit that mattered, hence why they let him go (arguably the "worst" coach to do less with more).

Pick nearly any mediocre school and they probably have more wins than TN in that period (a VERY low bar). I'd bet Memphis State does....
Richt won 2 SEC championships. This Board would go wild if we won the SEC championship in football.

So, with each successive coaching hire, you give them shorter and shorter timeframes in which to earn the first natty, and you expect dynasty - natty after consecutive natty through til the end of time.

This means Gruden will have 1 year to get his shizzle together, another year to get into the playoffs, and a third year in which he may lose the NCG, then he better natty annually until he retires. Have I got the gist?
