I like the PS Vita. However Sony is marketing it towards teenagers and adults. The problem with that is most teenagers and adults just don't carry dedicated gaming devices around (myself included). But what most teens and adults DO carry around are smart phones!

Sony needs to just move the PS Vita technology into a 4G smart phone with games 100% digitally distributed on the PS Store. Problem solved! Partner with Android so that the Google store is available also. Make it a slide phone with a screen that's roughly 5 to 5-1/2 inches and include the Vita control scheme underneath the slide screen and put the glide pad on the back with shoulder buttons on the sides. I'm telling you, between Vita titles, PS4 remote play, and the upcoming Vita TV I would absolutely be all over this!

Smart phones have already all but taken over dedicated MP3 players and cameras. Portable gaming devices seem like the next logical thing to get gobbled up! Now some argue the success of the 3DS. However the only thing that's keeping Nintendo successful is that they cater more to small children who typically don't carry smart phones. But let Nintendo introduce a 3DS phone and see how much more their sales explode! Sony should jump all over this before Nintendo does!

I like the thumb sticks on the Vita and I wouldn't want to carry around the phone with thumb sticks on it. But I see your point.

No telling how much this would cost.

It wouldn't be any different than any other modern smart phone. A Samsung Galaxy S4 will run you around 400-500.00 retail with no contract. All Sony would need to do is partner with Verizon and AT&T and offer them at a discounted price with a 2 year contract.

Yeah there would defintely be some engineering challenges. But personally, I would gladly give up a certain level of ergonomics to have the convenience of being able to have the technology consolodated into my phone. The analogue slide button on the PSP worked pretty well. They could easily incorporate those.

Sony's current plan is putting their online cloud gaming service on phone/tablets/etc. So, you'd be able to play anything but PS4 games. (Essentially running the same client the PS4 will run for this service)

They said a beta would be conducted this spring/summer with some launches (probably Sony phones and products well before others) this fall.

Be nice to store a controller in the end table that I could pull out and play PS games on the tablet.

Having remote play would be awesome. I'm guessing it's probably not possible for a few more years.

Yeah but most of those games wouldn't be viable to play on phones and tablets without some kind of dedicated control scheme. That's why I suggested that Sony shoud do a"Vita" phone. They tried this at one time with PSP but it was POORLY implemented! Now all Sony would need to do is release an android smartphone with a slide feature. Something like this ...
