“The Nashville District Attorney's Office said in May that Franklin's interaction with the alleged rape victim was not significant and that he did nothing inappropriate in the investigation.”

I don’t get why people keep accusing him of covering up rape. That’s a strong accusation. Did people even read this article? The title is misleading. He told the team that he had watched the video when actually someone in the administration had described it to him. Here is the only claim made in it that he tried to cover up anything. And it’s very weak.

“ A Buzzfeed article published in September 2013 cited a source "close to one of the defendants" who said he believes Franklin "encouraged a player to delete a video of the incident after the player showed it to Franklin.” Franklin later called the allegation "baseless."

According to Brian Rice, Tennessee was close with Franklin yesterday. But sounds as though it’s not happening.

I’m just pissed that it took NCAA sanctions hanging over our head, for UT to get serious about football again and start offering big money and swinging for the fences for legit coaches. Why didn’t they do this 8-10 years ago and this whole mess we’re in now, possibly could’ve been avoided.🤦‍♂️

I agree. Hiring another dud out of the MAC or QUACK conference or some coordinator who has no clue about being a HC will be a massive fail. If Danny White comes in with one of these type people, he should be shown the door for being massive failure himself.

Winning at Vandy should be a plus, knowing the football landscape in Tennessee should be a plus, and how many other coaches are in the mix that have won 11 games 3 times in arguably the second best conference in the country.

I agree that he won at Vandy, but I also IIRCC PSU was his dream job. The Big Ten only has one school to beat, OSU which he doesn't beat, the rest are toss-ups: Iowa, Iowa St., Michigan, Michigan St., etc. PSU can keep him . . .

Working with Vandy and beating us is worth a look just for that. His 11-win seasons speaks volumes. Some of the teams in his conference have struggled no doubt, but they are a strong conference. He is a winner, a proven coach and someone who could reverse our downward spiral. Yes, there are other coaches who could do better. If we can get them, fine with that. Franklin could inspire a winning program for TN.

247 has psu 2021 recruiting class ranked # 24. 7 the in the big 10.
Rivals has the at 26.
He might be gone if he doesn't win big next year. The buyout will be about 25 m end of year I think.

May have to. No matter how much is thrown at the coach it’s a huge gamble on their part to do it. What coach is willing to take that risk? Not many at all. Steele has passion for the school and you can tell him to go earn his stripes. It’s just going to be really hard to get a coach willing to do that. Let Steele navigate it for now til we see. Now if a sitting coach is willing to take the job, then of corse it would be awesome. It’s a tricky situation.
