Is score in the second half.

Here are the number the past 2 seasons for UT and their opponents 1st and 2nd half scoring....

1st half
UT - 367 Total points the first half | 14.68 Average per 1st half
Opponents - 243 Total points the first half | 9.72 Average per 1st half

2nd half
UT - 206 Total second half points | 8.24 Average per 2nd half
Opponents - 338 Total second half points | 13.52 Average per 2nd half

Let's look at SEC only....

SEC 1st half
UT - 146 Total 1st half points | 9.13 Average per 1st half
Opponents - 171 Total 1st half points | 10.69 Average per 1st half

SEC 2nd Half
UT - 119 Total 2nd half points | 7.44 Average per 2nd half
Opponents - 256 Total 2nd half points - 16 Average per 2nd half

Looking back at the stats further, in SEC play in 2011, we only scored 6 points in the 3rd quarter, and that was against Florida. So, we got blanked the rest of the way in SEC play in the 3rd quarter.

I don't know about you guys and gals, but those 2nd half stats are down right repulsive to me. Also, to see that 76% of the 2nd half scoring was done by SEC teams, that's just an amazing and disgusting stat to look at.

Yep, depth goes a long way in this area. Those other teams can roll quality players in and out to stay fresh. Our guys either played too much or our 2nd guy just wasn't up to speed yet.

People keep saying depth, like having more players is the problem.

The problem is quality depth. If we can't recruit on a level with the top teams in the SEC, having more players doesn't matter, if they aren't up to par with their 2nd team.

Also, something that bothers me about constantly talking about depth, and Count hit on it a bit, why would we be blaming depth, if our defense could tackle someone and get off the field?? If the defense stops the other team, then they stay fresh. That simple really.

That is not the only problem. Piss poor adjustments and coaching have something to do with is as well as does youth and inexperience.

Thankfully, the latter is no longer an excuse, so we will see if it was more on the coaches, or more on the youth.

When our starters get tired, teams ran over backs-ups because they were mostly freshman.

Our starters were freshman. Our backups were more freshman, coupled in with a few upperclassman who should have been carrying the water jug, instead of playing meaningful downs in SEC football.

Thanks to Fulmer and Kiffin's piss poor recruiting efforts I might add.

I think we need to score more pts than our opponents in the first and second half combined. If we do this, we will succeed IMO.

U GOTTA BE KIDDING RIGHT? YOU know we couldn't run the ball, you know how many 4 and outs we had?not that many of our games had the benefit of tv timeouts. u ever played tackle football? I'm not saying that the half time coaching was great, I don't think it was, I get hit by 300lbs over and over and tackle 230lbs backs I got to have some relief/Ithink the DL (except for kicking) is our biggest concern, They have to have some rest.I think we have progressed with our depth, but is it far enough, probably not, but we are closer

Eric is right, depth can only be blamed for a portion of the second half performances.

Half time adjustments need to drastically improve.

When the 3rd qtr is when you perform the poorest, its hard to blame depth when they just came out rested after halftime.

Attitude and adjustments are the biggest issues to me. Seems like other teams just figured us out and we had no answers for their adjustments.

Im all for DD staying here and winning, but he doesnt get a free pass for being a funny guy in interviews. GBO

Eric, who did we lose on defense from our 3-deep last year?
