Not all legacy recruits follow in their dads or uncles footsteps. I would love to have all these great legacy guys at UT but I doubt that it's gonna be possible.

Our greatest player, Peyton Manning, was a legacy recruit at Ole Miss and that didn't work out for them. Let's just hope we can get our fair share of great players in the 2014 class---legacy or not.

I alluded to this in another post earlier today. Agree 100%.

While I do agree, I'd be willing to bet that their father's time at Tennessee as a football player is greatly respected by just about every recruit. These guys bleed orange and genuinely love Tennessee because of their time there.

If I've noticed one thing, it's that Tennessee alumni/fans are typically extremely passionate and loyal to Tennessee for a very long time. I know a few people who played at different big schools back in the day but the only guys whose eyes light up every time are the ones who played here.

Wasn't too much pressure for Eli or the spinal stenosis brother, can't remember his name to save my life.

Uhhhh--you might want to say PM was our greatest QB...I don't know that he was our greatest player. It would be hard to say he was better than Doug Atkins or Reggie White--or even Johnny Majors back in the day.

Hacksaw Reynolds, Lauricella, Bob Johnson, Steve DeLong, Spiva, J. Lewis, Conredge Holloway, Terry McDaniel, Stanley Morgan, etc...etc..and many others I can't remember...

Also--Ole Miss DID get 2 out of the 3 legacy Mannings! :salute:

I would be perfectly happy for the Berry brothers to come here and be whatever players they will be. Sure, there may be some slightly elevated expectations with EB being the best Vol player in the last decade or so but EB was nationally top 5 and his brothers are not, which should temper expectations appropriately. I think it may take a little longer for the Berry twins to contribute but they would, at minimum, be solid contributors at UT.

If Butchy can't sell highly rated kids that have an actual family connection to UT on coming here, then we might as well move on to the next guy already because he surely won't be able to get enough of the kids we need that don't have family connections. We need highly rated elite players and lots of them to catch up to AL, FL, LSU, and UGA. If we can't get most if not ALL of the legacy kids next year then we are sunk for a few more years on getting back to our traditional place in the top tier of the SEC.

See, I said this, and got flamed for it, and they said I hate my dad.

Oh well.

It's a good point.

Hope we get some of them. I think if we get some wins this season, I don't think people will care where their dads played, THEY will want to play at UT.
