Considering our current situation it will be interesting to see how much rope the Texas alumni give Mack Brown. Brown gets top recruits, has one a title but is he now living up to Texas standards?

Maybe this should of went in the other forum....but CMB might be headed down the CPF road....

He won a title too recently to DX him. He underachieves in a big way, but his team is still nationally relevant.

I think he is a comparable coach to look at. There does seem to be some of the same tendencies. I agree it will be interesting to watch.

Mack Brown is nowhere near in the same situation that Fulmer is in. Not even kind of.

I would expect the money crowd that pulls the strings at UT-A, give less of a fig about national relevance and more about Jim Bob Oilpatch from Tulsa giving them crap after the Red River Shootout. If Oklahoma keeps beating Texas, the heat of the seat will rise proportionally.

He has many years before he reaches Fulmer's current state of hatred.
I don't think people hate Fulmer. I certainly don't. I just don't think he can coach at the level a top tier SEC team needs.

It's not like he's incompetent on purpose.

:eek:lol:well said. and agree, with a few exceptions who are very vocal of their dislike of the man, i don't think TN fans that want him gone, just flat out hate him.

As long as they can compete against Ou in the Red River shootout, and hold Tceh to under the speed limit, they'll still love Mack.

Fulmer gets more greif due to the relvancy issue.

I wouldn't say that I hate Fulmer...hell, I respect the guy for what he has done here during his tenure. He did bring us a NC, which is a lot more that most NCAA coaches can say. I also think his time is past and would like to see him move on with some dignity.

That said, I'm pretty confident in saying that the general dislike of Fulmer is on a rapid escalation, and that many people would say that they hate him at this point. I don't take football serious enough to hate anyone for what they do on the field, but I wouldn't put it past some of the other fanatics.

I guess my point was/is that I dont think Texas will let the slide get out of hand and will have an exit stradegy if things go in that direction.

Sounds pretty logical to me CD. Having roughly 24 million state population and mammoth high school football programs, they should expect more and give him a shorter rope than Fulmer has.

Each had an amazing team leader vols: Al Wilson Texas: Vince Young who led the team and fixed problems and coaches didn't have to. Texas and Tennessee both won a title in spite of their coaches imo
