Oakland game aside, this game does not take a night off defensively. Coaches utter the phrase "Defense wins championships" and its entirely true. I would be much more concerned if we were struggling defensively at this point than the fact that we are struggling offensively.

It is much harder to get teams to sell out for defense than it is to make them sell out to play offense... because lets face it; offense gets you on Sportscenter, spectacular dunks get you on the top 10 plays of the week, and very rarely does defense get you many headlines (John Fields two handed spike being one of the exceptions:rock:).

We fell victim to one of the worst shooting nights I have ever seen. I didn't get to watch the game so I can't comment on the quality of the shots that were taken... but anytime you shoot 35% from the floor, 12% from 3, and 28% from the line it just isn't your night. This team has the talent to score a lot of points. Pearl adjusted his philosophy last year and I'm sure he will adjust his gameplan again this year. Give it time, we'll be ok.

GBO.

Agreed. It's a long season and we'll be ok. Unfortunately, this week probably cost us a #1 or #2 seed down the road in the NCAA tourney. I'm a little concerned about how the NCAA stuff and the pressure upon Pearl is starting to effect this team. I believe that USC on Tuesday is a must win. I hope the fans show up and are loud.
