No matter how bad or good your team maybe, you should always enjoy the short amount of time you have to watch them. We get 3 months of football and 9 months of nothing and speculation. So, instead of complaining and whining, enjoy the time you have to watch these wonderful kids laying their health and lives on the line to not only entertain you but try and secure their future's for themselves and their families. Most of you will never fully realize what these players go through mentally and physically playing big time football. So, enjoy it VN faithful, I know I am, win or lose.

yea, i try to enjoy it as much as possible because I know the off season is coming and it will be here before I know it..

I have to remind myself all the time that these kids are playing to the best of their abilities. I don't know how the rest of the year will turn out but I will try to watch every game and no matter how upset I get I wil still cheer them on.

we spend 9 months wishing football season gets here, when it does, we gripe the whole season about some aspect of our team's play.

Thats true. When i looked up at the scoreboard and saw Auburn 23 Tennessee 6, I realized that i was going to focus more on having a good time at the game with friends, at the tailgate and being entertained. Last night after the final horn sounded I was much less pissed than after the UCLA game.

I felt the same way. I have long since come to realize that these coaches are doing the best they can given the players they inherited. Vince Lombardi couldn't win with this year's team. With this being my senior year at UT, I'm just trying to enjoy the process instead of always focusing on just the outcomes of the games.

Kiffin and company have a blank check from me in their first season. If Kiffin thinks he needs to stay with Crompton, that's his choice to make. Do you really think he doesn't want to win games even more than we do? Give the man a chance. He didn't exactly have much to work with here.

Well send Hamilton your resume. I'm sure that you could get up there and win out the rest of the schedule just by putting Stephens in. Then we will name a street after you and wonder how he ever got by without you.

We Vol fans (for the most part) signed on with Kiffin and his staff. If we expected a berth in Atlanta our first season, we were delluding ourself. We all knew (or should have known) it would take time. Look at the bigger picture. The team is playing disciplined football. Penalties are down. The players show some fire and emotion and play football for 60 minutes. Even with the abysmal passing game, the team hasn't quit or given up. We are getting exactly the kind of coach we all said we wanted. One who pays attention to the details, instills discipline, gets the team ready to play and (I believe) will be able to develop highly recruited talent once it gets here. The OP is right, enjoy the ride. Some day you will tell your grandkids you watched the first season when Kiffin began to turn things around.

Not sure what all this has to do with blindly supporting your team and accepting the losses. I support Kiffin and realize he needs more than even a couple of seasons to get the ship turned, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't receive any criticism. That sounds just like the Fulmerites of last year. The fact remains that the standard for this year was around 7-8 regular season wins. We got posters on here who have previously explained to us how UCLA was "garbage," how the Chizk hire was a joke, and how easy this schedule is now telling folks that their expectations were too big. It's insane.

Don't agree with you about everyone putting their health on the line. When you see some like Berry, McCoy, Hardesty, giving every ounce of effort they have...and then see Crompton scrambling and doing slides 5 yards short of 1st downs...it tells me all I need to know about the qb 'leader.' He's all about himself.

You have obviously never seen some of these guys 10-15 years down the road who gave it everything they had only to wake up everyday and have to pop pain killers like crazy just to make it through the day.

The difference in current faith in Kiffin and the position of the Fulmerites is that of time. If we are still having these discussions in 2011 and 2012, then it is time to start seriously questioning Kiffin. We gave Fulmer too much time to turn it around. I don't want to be responsible for giving Kiffin too little time.

I don't think you have ever completely understood what it actually means anyways. There is more than just a game being played, and some people can't get past that.

Well said. I grew up in Kingsport and have bled orange my whole life. My kids gave my wife and me tickets to the Memphis game for my birthday. I've been to Neyland Stadium twice in my life. Once as a teenager when the Vols played Kentucky and 3 years ago when they played Bama. I don't care what our record is going into the Memphis game - I am going to enjoy being back in Tennessee and in a sea of orange listening to Rocky Top being played by the band like I was going to a national championship!!
