How about his conditioning?

In five days, he played three incredibly stressful games while taking his normal beating. In those three games, he's played:

Iowa- 39 minutes
UMass- 33 minutes
Mercer- 38 minutes

For a post player to do that while averaging 15 rebounds, playing better in the second half, and having to be Tennessee's only rim protecter, plus the fact rebounding is 90% effort, is one of the more impressive feats in Tennessee athletics that I can remember.

It's a testament to his work ethic, his determination, his will to win, his focus, and his heart.

Yep. And a good sub for him last game when he was giving it what he had but a little gassed. He got maybe 6-7 minutes of true rest while only missing a minute or so of the game.

Maybe his girlfriend Isabelle Harrison can help convince him to stay.

This. A little bit of stink goes a long ways if you know what I mean lol. I think it factored into his return this year.

I've heard a rumor (nothing substantial by any means) that they are really, really close and that they both plan on going pro in basketball, which will really conflict their schedules. She's got one more year at UT and Jarnell wants to spend as much time with her as he can before they go pro.

It looks to me like Coach Nic has the Vol players in outstanding shape. CCM even commented on that during the radio show after the Mercer win IIRC.

I don't think Stokes is in any hurry to leave, but if CCM isn't here he is gone. Look for him to return next year.

Nah, he isn't going to touch the lottery pick area. He is still doubtful to be a 1st rounder this year. His improved play still hasn't changed his size and lack of explosiveness.

It's wishful thinking on my part :)

I do hope a team takes him last 1st round though. Someone with his ability to defend and rebound is good. Offensively, I think he has a lot to do because like you say, he's undersized and lacks explosiveness.

He would be a 1st rounder next year with another strong season and a weaker draft class.

How about how outstanding his free throw percentage has been in the tourney? He is 25-29 in the 3 games for an 86.2% clip, he is zoned in and love the effort.

I think it would be very beneficial for him to stick around one more year and develop a consistent mid-range jumper. As is, he has developed into an outstanding college player. If he can develop a pick and pop facet to his game there will be room for him in the pros. Heck, Karl Malone, in his later years spent as much time shooting mid-range jumpers as he did banging down low.

Also don't forget to give credit to Cuonzo for guiding him - Stokes' toughness is exactly what Cuonzo type of basketball is all about and it's great to see that the biggest superstar Cuonzo has recruited so far has completely bought in and been playing so hard.

I have been impressed with his growth this year in his game. I don't see a lot of negatives with his returning for one more year. I can only imagine the beast he will be after another year of college ball. didnt know about him and Harrison and certainly cant see a negative in that. :) Two good athletes could create another great "legend" class of the future. LOL
