Bruce Pearl and Mark Cuban seem like the same person. Both have energy and dont care about peoples perception. Does anyone agree?

One is a pale, jock sniffing, computer nerd. The other a tan, jock coaching, comic book character.

Nope, don't see it.

I definitely think Pearl in concerned with perception of him and the program.

Totally agree. That right there is the main difference between Pearl and Cuban. Pearl is very much tuned into the fact that all of his actions and statements have an impact on the University and the future of his basketball program. Part of his brilliance is his ability to constantly say and do the "right" things to promote the program without seeming contrived or fake -- even though 95% or what he does is completely thought out and has a distinct agenda. The guy does not miss a trick. If he were in business, he would be one of these visible CEOs like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates.

Cuban says what he wants with little regard to perception. I mean, as far as he's concerned, "Who cares?" right? He's a billionaire. He's not stupid, so he's not going to say something so far out in left field that he ends up casting a negative light on his team ... but he definitely has far more leeway than most.

Both are excellent marketers, though. Lots of companies could go to school by following the tactics of Cuban/Pearl.

I think it's funny that Pearl (probably not purposefully) can point out the a-holes of college basketball. Aka Stallings, Sklip Bayless, and whoever that LSU joke-of-a-coach is. Gotta love it. Anyways the more national attention we get the more tv time there is, the more games we can watch, the bigger fan base we have, and the bigger recruits we get. All good things.
