That impressed me very much was him talking about education..
I'm not downing Lane ( I'm a huge Lane supporter) but he hasn't mentioned Education and Life lessons much.. In fact he talks about just getting to the NFL...
and thats fine.. but first and foremost.. The University of Tennessee is a place to grow as a human being and get an education.. and as much as it hurts me to say it.. Football and Basketball come second..

So when Coach O touched on that today and said first thing to do is let these kids know they will get the best education around as well as lessons to keep and great football memories..

It just made this day so much better...

Just my piece.. Let's Go VOLS!!! :hi:

Coach O is one of a kind and yes that was impressive when he was talking about education. i was pleasantly surprised when he was doing his interview. A friend of mine was his strength coach at Ole Miss and says he is a wild man.

Yeah, right. Orgeron is a paragon of academia.

He walked out and everyone, confused, started taking their shirts off. Sure enough, O walked back in, bigger than alot of the guys on the team, without his shirt on. He started yelling and telling the team that they needed to get loud. He said, "When I point to this side of the room, I want you to say 'Ole Miss.' When I point to this side, I want you to say, 'Wild Boys.'" Standing there with no shirt on with every guy in the room shirtless, started pointing to each side of the room. Half the team would yell, "Ole Miss" while the other would yell "Wild Boys." Apparently it got pretty crazy and guys started flipping chairs, yelling, and throwing cooler across the room while chanting Ole Miss... Wild Boys. He then stopped and said, "One more thing.

If any of you motherf*****s thinks you can take me, you come up here and get a piece of me right now." He gave everyone an opportunity to come up and fight him and said, "That's what I thought," and walked out of the room.

We just watched a team that Orgeron "coached" go from nine losses to nine wins in one year after he was gone. And we're paying this guy a million dollars a year, and everyone's happy about it...?

I can't tell if you're kidding or not, but I hope you are. Just for fun, I'll assume you're being serious.

First, we didn't hire Orgeron to be a head coach last I checked. Also, Nutt is a fine coach, but Orgeron recruited that talent. And if you've ever been to Oxford, MS, you would know what a feat that really is.

Second, we're not paying him a million dollars a year. The number I heard was around $650k.

Third, we hired Orgeron for his recruiting and specialty on the defensive line along with his intensity and fire. I for one am stoked.

I'm not kidding in the least. Orgeron is an idiot, and he can't coach a lick, and he's an embarrassment. It makes me want to puke to think he is on our staff. I know he recruited that talent that Nutt just won with. Gerry Faust recruited the talent Lou Holtz won a national championship with, but that still didn't make Gerry Faust anything but a bad coach who recruited well. At least he didn't embarrass anyone.

Orgeron had better be a good recruiter, because he isn't good for anything else.

Show me how you know that he can't coach? I'm confused. Do you have any evidence whatsoever that he can't coach? He won championships at USC and at Miami and both of those programs had STOUT defenses especially USC. He's taught players how to go from good to great ala Warren Sapp.

It just seems like you hate the guy for some reason, and I don't understand what he's done or hasn't done to cause that. And as for "Orgeron had better be a good recruiter" ... how does being National Recruiter of the Year for 2 years plus having a freaking book written about you sit with you?

Orgeron is a better DL coach than anyone in the SEC. He has Monte Kiffin's endorsement. He's coached around 15 All Americans.

The Saints must have hired Orgeron for his awesome recruiting ability.

I'm pretty pumped about him. We have been lacking on the D-line for quite some time now.

Why would you preface this with that statement?

If he walks into a lecture hall instead of a locker room at UT and does this, you let me know.

I was pleased to see him mention education too. Make no mistake, the guys were brought in to win games, but I don't want the program to sell its soul for wins either... we can be successful doing it the right way.

And no offense jsc1973, but if you don't think he brings anything to the table, you need to get your head out of the sand. Its your choice to not like him personally, but he definitely will help us win games. Hope you come around on him... well, and hope that the proves all of his supporters right.
