Does anyone actually know how many spots we can fill this year?

I know we went under the 25 last year. How many spots do we have?

To me, this is the hardest thing to calculate in recruiting.

Thanks in advance.

It's my understanding that we have 31 spots available...although I thought there was a rule that you could only sign 27 or 28...

Well, my thinking was you can sign 25, but you can backcount based on what you didn't sign the year before.

We signed 21 last year....so wouldn't that mean we could sign 29? Unless some of those 21 don't count because they were EE's....

I just have a hard time understanding it all.

31, but 6 have to be EE

Okay, that sounds good.

If I'm a highly sought after recruit, I immediately start thinking about becoming an EE. No, you can't do the AA games or prom or graduation like your classmates, but it helps you to get on the field quicker in many cases.

I know some recruits don't have the grades or opportunities to do so. But it's an extremely understated advantage. Have 15 practices as a college student, and a whole semester under your belt before the fall, not to mention a semester and summer of weightlifting is incredible.

I'm pretty sure you can only backcount what you didn't fill from the class before. So it's not 31

In my personal opinion, they need to allow teams to take whatever they need to get to the 85 limit.

But I also know that would be mass chaos.

I'm pretty sure it's 31. Remember some of the EEs were back counted from this past class. Tennessee hasn't had a full 25 since the 2011 class.

This would be the best year ever to have a full 31 spots. Can you imagine? Especially with all of the prospects we're in on?

I mean, theoretically, with 31 spots we can recruit a full two deep on one side of the ball. And I honestly think that's what he's trying to do on the defensive side.

I truly hope we have 31 spots. That's the best case scenario for our football team right now. A LOT of talent in this class, and with some wins this season, we'll get a ton of it.

I hope that we get some JuCos in here to fill those EE spots along with a few freshman. A JuCo DB, DT, LB, and OL could go a long ways for us.

Yes. I agree we need some JUCO's, especially at OL. We're going to be losing a LOT there, and while I have some hope in Kerbyson, Posey, Crowder, and others they're very unproven.

Losing James, Bullard, Stone, Richardson and Fulton in the next two years is going to leave the cupboard pretty bare unless we get some talent in there.

That's why I'm glad we have such a big class. Yes, I think a few JUCOs would be good. But if we can take in 31 freshmen that will be here for 4-5 years...I'm all for it.

I know that Hurd is.

Don't know about anyone else.

Good thing is, if we can get them in this early, we may can work it out to make it happen. There's benefit in getting a commit 5 months before their senior year even starts.

I know with my school at least, if you graduate early, you're still allowed to go to prom or even walk across the stage with your friends if you have the time to do it. We've only had it happen twice as far as I know.
