Someone please clear the Regular Seaon vs Tourney Champ thing up for me......

There are some other, more valid comparisons.

How about the comparison of conference championships?

Gators 1989, 2000, 2001, and 2007. The first SEC basketball championship was won by UK in 1933. The Vols started winning such championships in 1936 (more than 60 years before the Gators realized it was a sport?).

Hard to find San Fran's conference championships for comparison, but they just weren't the same before or after Bill Russell and K.C. Jones went to the NBA.

I've said your not a flash in the pan, but of that Champions list, you most closely fit the Dons and the Bearcats. That isn't a bad thing. I'd trade with you in a heartbeat, including this current 2 seeding for your atrocious NIT appearance.

Every time I read NIT and Florida Gators in the same sentence, I just want to vomit. I know its understandable and all, that we are rebuilding, etc. But still.

Blech.

I knew there was a reason for me to use that reference at every opportunity.

Not according to your coach. He's ready to give up on this bunch.:dance2:

Please stop recasting people's comments and attacking your version of what was said, rather than what was actually said.
stop changing the subject. If that group doesn't find some defenders, they'll never win anything of any value, not even a (gasp) SEC reg season title.

The Bearcats have a lot better history than do the Gators on LG's only measure.

they're a Kenyon Martin broken leg away from a 3rd National Title.

I'm not attacking my version. I'm promoting it!

Okay, that made even me laugh. Good one

Can you get me a link to similar data on UF and UT?

can't be done. UF basketball history doesn't exist prior to 1990.

Raises an interesting point. Wasn't the NIT the playground for the "real" national title for a long time? I've never understood how that exactly transitioned. But at any rate, sure, let's compare since 1990. I've no problem with that.

can't be done, again. We had high school coaches for the majority of that period so it's an apples and oranges comparison.

If we're going to limit the years of basketball history, why not just focus on this year?

Oops... UF has a blank data set again. Just like prior to 1989.

Flash....

I'm good with head to head back to the beginning of time.

LG, for future reference, it seems your best cutoff year for Gator basketball is 1987--as that was a decent squad. You should ignore that basketball even existed more than 20 years ago.

While I'm at it, LG, you can be the first of the 10,000 fans you know to have a copy of the Gator Basketball Media Guide. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
