In my opinion I think it would be very smart and wise for Kiffin to hire some one from within the Tennessee family to help carry on the tradition you know what Im saying...

Im not talkin like coordinators Im talkin maybe recruiting assistant and such ,like that...ala Tee Martin as a recruiting assistant....

Im not try'n to speculate..I just think this would be important in help keeping the UT Tradition goin strong...

Your thoughts......

i agree with this. but i also would agree with an al wilson, kevin simon,or tee martin to join the staff at some capacity, although i do not see that happening this year.

It is one of my most fervent hopes about this staff that not a single member of it have any ties to UT. This incestuous "Tennessee Family" garbage is how we ended up here.

Only because the bib overall wearing crowd is so wedded to the "Tennessee Family" notion that Fulmer wasn't fired at the end of the 2005 season.

The camel's back was broken in 2005...the "Tennessee Family" has been carrying the dead camel since then.

I'd be more pumped to see Tee Martin running down the sideline scoring a touchdown again.

Kiffin can hire whoever he wants, but yes, I wouldn't mind seeing one or more of our past greats on the staff.

He'll keep one or two of our current coaches around to keep recruiting contacts going. I'd suggest he retain Slade or one of the other defensive staffers. Something to be said for coaches who maintained discipline and motivation among their personnel in the midst of a bad season. Most of those guys coaching on that side of the ball would fit in well with what MK wants to do on defense (If Monte comes of course.).

Pick one of them and move on. That is all the "family" needed.

hat and doctor, hate to burst your bubble, but there will be at least one and likely two current TN assistants retained on Kiffin's staff. On defense it will be either Brooks or Caldwell. On offense, likely Scott.

Neither Brooks or Caldwell will be here if we get Orgeron.

Scott isn't from the Tennessee family.

Whether former Tennessee players are on the staff or not, at least I'd like to see a more aggressive player reach out to include former players working out with and visiting the players. I think a link to some areas of the past and traditions are important.

Ironically, the hiring of an offensive staff from outside the family proved to be move that triggered Fulmer's ouster.

I tend to think that having some sort of carryover on the staff would be helpful for a new coach who is unfamiliar with the facilities, personnel, university, etc. Perhaps this could be accomplished by support staff, I don't know.
