At a time more than possibly any other in modern UT history, the program and this new coaching staff needs positive energy and support to turn this thing around quickly. Tomorrow looks to be a nice day of weather in Ktown. Yet, most expect a modest crowd at O&W of around 40,000.

Meanwhile, Bama fans are expected to continue their re-found commitment which began in Saban's first spring, and pack out their stadium again as a show of support for the program and their coach.

Call them whatever you want. In some cases, it fits. But I admit to being entirely jealous of the commitment shown by rank-in-file Bama fans to show their support like they do. Currently, only UK basketball fans can rival the unwavering intensity and passion displayed by Bama fans...and its not even close. I will be there tomorrow, and wish like heck that another 40k would show up to at least rival the support being shown 4 hours to the SW.

If you love the Big Orange, and you really believe UT fans are the best, then start acting like it. Show up.

well there is a good reason...most bama fans never leave the vicinity of alabama. they stay in their podunk little towns and talk about the bear. vol fans however spread out all around the world to share the beauty of the orange. some of us are so far away we can only make it in to knoxville for two games a year. so therefore we decide to come to games instead of scrimmages. we are there in spirit my friend. besides, if you lived in bama this is the only thing you have to look forward to...plus they don't have televisions in bama...have to attend the game.

I heard on the radio this morning that we could have 60-70,000, but I'm not sure that with the construction going on that they would even let that many in the stadium.

Construction will limit how many are let in. I think I heard 60,000 max, but I wouldn't hold my word to that.

I don't live in AL but I am making the 3 1/2 hour trip to watch the A-Day game tomorrow. We DO still talk about the Bear much the same way you Vol fans will still talk about Summit after she's gone. Us Bama fans ARE spread out throughout the entire US and the world. This will only be my second trip to Tuscaloosa. I'd love to be able to goto more games but I can't. Unlike VOL fans, we don't pack up and leave midway through the 3rd quarter while attending games. You are right about BAMA games being about the only thing to look forward to though. Sorry. There are plenty of televisions in AL.

Well,
We did have like 60K or 70K for the '86 O&W game, after the great year we had in '85.
The bammers set a new standard when they hired saban. The $4 mil mark is unprecedented and many don't think ANY coach is worth that much. However he was seen as the savior and a lot of those people wanted to see what $4 mil gets you.

It is a scrimmage for gods sake. If I was a student or lived within 1.5 hours I would go but it is still a scrimmage.
We could also ask why a far supperior (to the stinking bammers) Florida program doesn't fill their stadium for their spring scrimmage?

bammers are pretty pitiful.

Please. Half the UT fanbase could care less about Summitt.

I think there's a few people (not me since I bought my tickets about 6 weeks ago) from places beyond Knoxville (I'm in Nashville) who don't want to risk getting turned away if they really do just reach a point where they can accept no more attendees. So they just figure they'll catch a replay on TV or just figure to go to a real game or something later on in the actual season.

You are right, but over the years Bama fans have become professional brown baggers.

Sure we did! It was about halfway through the 4TH quarter, not the third. Besides, people I know go for more than just the spring game.

Well that obviously makes you more devoted fans.

I've got a lot of family in Alabama (sorry to say). When they suck, there are no 'Bama fans to be found at the reunion. Let them win 8 games in a season and they fire up the bandwagon and are just as obnoxious as any Georgia or Florida fan has ever been.

And at the end of the day that is the important thing.
To be honest, if we had 90K show up to the O&W game I would be a little embarrassed.
bammers have a severe inferiority complex. They know that when people think of that school they think of the nat'l gaurd having to desegragate it.
They want to be known for something other that strained race relations. Their football team will give them national respect (at least that is what they think).
Tennessee, Florida and Georgia all have fame for things other that college football. Not that I don't want fame for that too but people come from all over the world to visit TN. bammers can't even get people from the southeast to come to bammerland except driving through to get to the coast.

I can answer this easily for you. Have you ever looked in the bowl after you went poo? Notice all the turds tend to congregate next to each other? Well, there you are....

.....and you're welcome, lol.
