I use to read the KNS on line, but when they went to the pay extra for their sport news that was the end for me. I guess I'm just to cheap. By the way I used to email Griff all the time and he always answerred. I guess it was because I always disagreed with him and let him know it.

That's true. This being such an emotion filled story, the utmost of respect should have been shown for the school than to cross the lines.

Without knowing for certain, it would seem to me that UT's reluctance to grant access to Inky likely had to do with the school's responsibilities to the HIPPA act. Following the letter of those laws can seem unnecessarily restrictive, but they exist for a reason.

Hooker wanted to tell the story, I can respect that. But surely even he had to know he was on shaky ground.

That's bogus. Inky wanted to talk to Hooker. Hooker was respectful, and still got the interview. If Inky wants to talk, he can talk. UT is being dictatorial here. It's crap, really.

I agree there are rules you must follow, but if Inky went to Hooker, then I think it's crappy. Inky's a GAM if he wants to talk to someone fully knowing theres an article to be wrote, then he can.

But I don't know the real story.

Well I heard Hooker tell his side yesterday. I pretty much think UT is being moronic on this one.

My wife happens to be the HIPAA compliance officer at her job. That could very well be the reason. You don't challenge HIPAA without consequences, that's for sure.

If a reporter discusses someone's injury with them (Inky), there is no violation of the HIPAA laws. A violation of HIPAA would occur if say UT did a presss release with the specifics of Inky's injury without his consent.

I like the fact the Hooker got the interview and gave a good write up about a guy who will never play football again.

Any mistreatment of Dave Hooker, John Wilkerson, Jimmy Hyams, or Brent Hubbs is welcomed and heartily endorsed by me.
