So I'm stuck at home bored with the flu so I just decided to YouTube Coach Pruitt and found a few older videos that has made me feel even better about our Head Coach. I definitely think there's going to be a learning curve for him given that he's never been a head coach, but a lot of these quotes about him makes me believe that he's going to be a great coach long term and that we struck gold.

It's incredible to see the kind of impact that Coach Pruitt had on his players

A 2014 video when he was Florida State's DC
Jeremy Pruitt: Born To Coach - YouTube

"He said something to me that I"ll never forget in my life, he said: 'You don't get what you want, you get what you earn'. He got my attention from day one, and to just see the way he loves football and loves coaching and developing young men. You have no choice but to draw to him, he's a natural leader.

...Coach Pruitt love, care, and [understands] players, football, and everything, and that alone opens up the doorway for me to want to learn..."
-LaMarcus Joyner

"He's a great motivator, he's a great teacher. I just look forward to going to meetings everyday and just figuring out what I can learn from the guy and what else he has in store for us to learn. It's a blessing that he came here and it's a blessing just to play with him."
-Tim Jernigan

Some Key Highlights:
-I think we all know about his success at Florida State when they won the national championship. That year the team first 3rd in total defense, 2nd in passing efficiency defense, and 1st in scoring defense
-When Pruitt got to Georgia, he rebuild their defense from ranking 45th nationally in 2013 to 17th nationally in 2014. The following year the defense rose to 7th nationally.
-At Georgia, he improved the passing defense from 60th in the national to 1st in two years.

"It really hurt to see Coach Pruitt leave. Coach Pruitt was probably the best coach I ever had. Taught me a lot on and off the field, as a man, it couldn't get [any] better. The bond we had was very thick, he taught me a lot."

From "Butch gets it" to Pruitt's "Aight."

Let's see what he puts on the field before we caught up in the 2nd grade catch phrases for the guy.

LOL, Here are some quotes I saved from my Twitter timeline after news released of Pruitt taking the job. I'm withholding names to protect the stupid! I also edited out the swear words.

Not sure on how I ended up talking to this guy (I don't follow him) but I just checked and he's only tweeted a handful of times sine that day and he's been a twitter user since 2010.

:eek:hmy:

"Born and raised in bama, played for bama, coached at bama. He's a ******* bama fan deep down and people want to bring this wolf into the hen house? He could be the love child of Saban, Belicheck, Neyland, and Bryant and I'd say no thanks"

"Pruitt has potential to be a elite coach. Seems like no hire will make you happy.

His Reply

Perhaps someone who isn't a bama lifer. Someone who didn't get his *** kicked by Fulmer and Peyton while he was playing for bammer"

"Except Kirby smart played at UGA and that's where his allegiances have always been. I never said Pruitt is a bad coach but he's not a UT fan, he's a bama fan. No amount of money would change that. If he's successful and Saban retires guess where he's going"

"It's all there on his wiki for you to look at. He's dyed in the wool bama through and through. Could be the second coming of Bryant and neyland but he will never love UT like he loves bama"

"Bunch of sheep voting that they would entrust the fate of our beloved vols to a ******* bammer. A bammer that hasn't even proven himself as a head coach at that"

"He might be an amazing DC hire but we have no idea if he'll be a good head coach. Maybe he'll win champs left and right or maybe he'll be like Butch. Fact is he'll never love UT like he loves bama"

One more I found from someone else..

"He's a Bammer and will always be a Bammer!"

Might go against me to think it, but there're some good ones.

It's as plain as the nose on my face that this guy is the exact opposite of Butch. Thank God

FWIW...Saban's chief of staff told the search committee assisting Mississippi State that Pruitt was the best assistant coach/coordinator that Saban has ever had. High praise from a HOF coach that has a broad tree of former assistants coaching in college and the NFL.

I think we all know and understand that the majority of coaches out there are fans of their alma mater and will always support it. What most of us also realize is that regardless of where they went to school or coached before their desire to succeed at every step and in ever facet of their career is a massive driving force. You don’t have to hate your competitors to be successful and beat them.

Pruitt appears to be a great fit for UT and vice-versa.
We’ll see how he runs a program and changes the culture & language.
He’s just a dadgum football coach who’s heads in the right place. He doesn’t appear to be distracted by outside noise.

I’m optimistic...

After Pruitt’s National Championship D at FSU...

Saban called hiring Pruitt a "no-brainer," enough that he didn't consider any other options and didn't talk to anyone else about the job.

"There was no doubt who I was going to hire," Saban said. "Didn't interview anybody. Didn't talk to anybody. Just hired the guy."

I support CJP 100% because he is the coach at Tennessee and APPEARS to be doing the right things. I hope he brings Tennessee back to NC land with a no nonsense smash mouth football style we used to play!

However, some of you people are pumping this up just a little too much! Too many positive accolades could be setting some up for a major fall. Yes he needs time and yes he has my full support but part of me has a "wait and see" attitude. CJP has never been a head coach and CJP grew up with a dislike for the Vols. At this point, he has not shown his total loyalty to the Vols. Maybe he will and maybe he will not, time will tell.

Go Vols and good luck CJP !
