Let me start by saying, I'm not sure Derrick Dooley is the guy for the job. But I know what firing a coach in his 2nd year and in effect having 4 coaches in 5 years would do to this program.

1st off, you could kiss the recruits we have goodbye. One common denominator kids and their parents/guardians look for is stability. Do you really think bringing in the 3rd staff in 4 years reflects stability?

2nd, people sleep on the fact that the reason the last 2 years have sucked are due to Fulmer not recruiting worth a crap and Kiffin bringing in kids in a suspect manner. End result, little to no junior and senior talent this year. What did you guys expect? To beat the UGAs, LSUs, Bamas, and Arkansas's of the world with as little of talent as we had? At least last year, Bray had, seniors such as Moore and Jones to throw to, which opened the offense up moreso than it did this year. I don't know what went wrong with the running game this year(young O-line, Poole being average). But to turn a blind eye to us having 68 out of a possible 85 scholarship players( and losing Bray and Hunter to injury) is mindboggling. What do you people expect to happen in the toughest conference in college football?

3rd, how about you people put your money were your mouths are and show up for the games. I remember when I was a kid going to a UTEP game, we knew we were going to win by 40 and still selling out Neyland on that Saturday. Not this new generation of Vols. You want recruits to come? you want to start winning ballgames? you want to attract top coaching prospects? Then stop sitting on your duff's bit.ching and moaning about the current ails of our football team and show up! If you quit being a fan, then shut up and cheer for another team. Peace. Don't let the door hit you on the ar.se! on the way out, or whatever other catchphrase you want to use. If not, then stop the incessant whining about every detail of every play and go to the da.mn games! It doesn't matter about supporting a coach. If Dooley is gone tomorrow, all you did was turn your back on a program.

Which brings me to my last point, If some of you have turned your back on Tennessee's program what right do you have to say anything? Why feel entitled? You obviously have no qualms on being a quitter, which says a lot about some of you, but you can look in the mirror and see the very reason this program has dropped to the level it has.

How about a recap:

1. Get rid of Fulmer without having another coach in place.

While I felt it was time to move on, I did suggest we have an actual exit strategy, you know an actual coaching staff in place before letting Fulmer go.

2. Let's get a gun for hire like Florida and Bama did. Insert Lane Kiffin.

Again, I was exited about the possibility of change, but grew weary quickly. Week after week of Kiffy boy making insane comments, all the while claiming he was just trying to get attention for the program. The same program that hired him and he turned his back on by saying kids come to schools because of coaches not the university that has been around for over 100 years.

I'm not attempting to be harsh, but it seems unless we bring in a 6 million dollar a year coach, summons Vince Lombardi on a ouija board, you guys won't be happy. Which is ironic since we can't afford it anyways because our fanbase are a bunch of ship jumpers.

Give Dooley the 4 years to actually recruit a full class, and then revisit how we proceed forward.

I totally bought that until the second half of this season. It's just not the only reason we sucked. People who believe that cannot distinguish between a well-coached and poorly-coached team.

I would like to propose a Vol Nation Brawl. We do it on campus somewhere. We devide into Supporters and Haters and go at it. Losers get banned from the site. Let's get ready to rumble!!

Dooley will NEVER compete with top 4 or 5 teams in the SEC. He may beat a down UF next year or occasionally beat UGA or SC but why keep a guy that can't compete? Are you okay with settling into a second or third tier team in the SEC? If not, why not cut bait now? Why keep him as a lame duck for a year or two if the end result will be the same in that he will be replaced? That seems like it would only delay things further.

I think having a Bray and the receivers on this roster will help land a better coach, why wait until 2013 when those guys are leaving to see who wants the job?

Realistically, there are NO good coaches that would be interested in the job if dooley is fired.

this^. We fired a legend after 2 losing season's in 17 years. Then, if we fired another coach after only 2 seasons to clean up a complete mess of a situation, we become a place where nobody feels they can be successful and even if they are, its just a matter of time before something goes wrong and the axe gets dropped on them too.

If you think the majority of the fan base isn't going to be in a "fire the coach" uproar after getting beaten by a PATHETIC KY team using a WR as a QB and breaking a 26-year winning streak, you're absolutely 100% delusional.

And quite frankly, Dooley deserves every bit of the criticism he's receiving. You can talk about youth, injuries and inexperience all you want to. The bottom line is this: we showed ZERO improvements thoughout the season, culminating in a completely uninspired, apathetic showing against the Wildcats.

You can make up all the excuses in the world for Dooley - and yes, I agree he walked into a bad situation. But that's no excuse for the miserable display of poor preparation and poor execution this past saturday.

Good coaches do MORE with less. Dooley has done nothing but make excuses and talk about how bad the players are. I'll be interested to see what kind of excuses he can come up with next year..

I hope you play the lottery since you can see the future so well.

Which was addressed in my post. Most fans want instant gratification, and don't look at all of the dynamics it takes in building back a successful program from the ground up.

They expect some results, with DD we have had none.
Ask yourself, was that a well coached team we watched against UK.
What makes anyone think DD can win here? Where is your cornerstone? The OT Vandy win?
DD will get next year, then he will be gone, rightfully so.

I think you are kind of missing the point. I'm not saying Dooley is the man for the job. But let's face facts, 4 potential hires turned down the job before Dooley accepted.

One thing Dooley and his staff have done effectively is recruit. Why not let him recruit and try to get back to a modest record to make the job more inviting. If not, as an above poster said, do you think any coach worth his salt would want to come here?

If we don't fire the clown now, he may luck up and win 8 or 9 games next year securing his 4th and 5th year of medicority!

That's what these people want afterall.
