Some Nice Facts

a. 2-0. And that's 2-0 in the SEC.

b. 8-game win streak. And counting.

c. Bama beat Mizzou 38-19. We beat Mizzou 35-12. Sure, different sequencing, but very similar outcomes. We'll see next week if it transfers to top foes.

d. 0 turnovers. 2 take-aways.

e. JG managing games very well.

Year could not begin any better than ours has. Looking forward to whupping the Dawgs.
Similar stat lines for us and Alabama. Alabama more pass oriented in their game but yards allowed on defense we’re about 20 yards apart.

Fact
19 players were credited with at least 1 tackle while 2 more were credited with an assist for a total of 21 players involved.

Question
Was it me, or did we pretty much stay in a zone-D after taking a 3 score lead?

Conjecture
Pruitt's still shifting gears with his defense. He sorta played vanilla 2nd half while working on depth. We'll notice an immediate improvement as Shamberg returns & starters take majority snaps.
Safeties need to get better and more physical I think. Probably why we're seeing Thompson back there so much. I'm curious as to who covers George next week. I'd love to see Taylor Thompson Shamburger, those 3 only matched up with him. George played good today I thought.

Complete opposite of last year! Nice!

G2 Postgame Notes Missouri (PDF) - University of Tennessee Athletics

• Sophomore RB Eric Gray rushed for a 20-yard touchdown to put UT ahead 14-0 in the second quarter. Gray has now rushed for a touchdown in four straight games dating back to last season and six total in that span. He is the first UT player to rush for a touchdown in four straight games since QB Josh Dobbs in 2016 (Sept. 10 – Oct. 1).
• Gray added a 13-yard receiving touchdown in the second quarter, which was his second-career touchdown reception. His first came against UAB on Nov. 2, 2019, which also went for 13 yards. Gray is the first UT player to rush for a touchdown and catch a touchdown pass since Alvin Kamara on Nov. 26, 2016 at Vanderbilt.
• Gray recorded his second-career 100-yard rushing game, finishing with 105 yards on the ground. His other 100- yard game came versus Vanderbilt last season (246 yards).

I certainly hope you are right, D is our weak spot right now, and Pruitt's a D dude, so we should see marked improvements going forward. Gotta hand it to the young QB on the other side today though, he looks like he has a promising future.

He was awful last week, and I usually defend JG. I didn’t see the game today, but I’ll watch it as soon as I can to see if he looked any better.
He missed on throws. That has nothing to do with game management. Almost every pass went where it should have.

Not gonna knock the guy but behind that line JG had to improve somewhere

The problem is when someone shuts the run down will he be able to progress through reads and make decisions.

We had 10 yards the 1st half rushing vs USCjrs and led pretty comfortably at half. I think it's a sign of how balanced this offense has become.

Playing AT Georgia AND only 12,000 fans so that will help our chances fo sure
I would not be surprised if Georgia seats more than allowed. There appeared to be way more than that for Auburn. Could just be optics and it really shouldn't make a difference in the end.

His numbers weren't better but he played a better game today no doubt. Most of his Incompletions were long passes or due to coverage. Honestly I don't remember a single really bad pass and he made some great 3rd down passes.
Agreed. Attribute some of his management to the O-line and run game. Yesterday's game only proved we need to have a balanced attack to keep defenses honest and on their heels. To do this JG needs to continue to complete the easy passes, which he did yesterday.

I thought the same thing. Not sure whether it was the way they were spaced or not, but it looked like a much higher density than what we had.
