Some encouraging news

Man I just got cold chills and started beating my head against the desk. Thanks for the post. I want to see the players get permanent eye black tatooed down their cheeks. I want them to get "Death awaits you" tats on their foreheads. I want them to get "Relentless" tattooed across their chest. I want to see somebody's ass get legally knocked out in every game. I want Muschump to get admitted to the mental ward after leaving the field in Knoxville this fall. I want Aaron Murray's teeth to be laying on the pretty green grass in Athens. I want to send Spurrier into retirement. I want to beat Saban so bad that he begs Dooley to let him have a job on our staff. Boys it's coming. Get your heads out of your asses because were fixing to start administering some good ol UT ass whippins on these teams. We've been knocked to the mat but anybody with a set of deez nutz will get up and were getting up boys.

Sorry about all of this. I just get into a rage sometimes thinking about football. Have a good day.

This post needs its own thread! Go VOLS! :clapping:

NC State better watchout because they are about to be abused. This team will be ready to explode on the Pack given they've had to wait this long to get back on the field since the UK loss.

Thanks for the opening post though. I haven't been here long and it seems that all I've read is a bunch of infighting with the fan base. Your post was something that we all wanted to hear. Some good news coming out of Knoxville.

What is the old baseball adage? Something like--before the first pitch on opening day, hope springs eternal.....

I am optimistic about next year, but not wetting my pants yet. DD finally has some experience and depth on the roster to coach. The nasty thing that keeps gnawing on me is that other teams are getting better such as Florida, maybe Georgia and Alabubber. Of course we don't have to play LSU or Arkansas this year. Stay tuned.

If you stick to the recruiting forum you will see far more sanity than is typically displayed in the football forum

welcome to VN!

Looks like the starting 5 on the OL this Spring will be

LT: Richardson
LG: Thomas
C: Bullard
RG: Fulton
RT: James

I was telling you that Peterman was having a very impressive offseason about a month ago according to Hubbs. He has bulked up to over 220 lbs. People will be glad Dooley didn't redshirt Worley before it's all said and done.

Jordan Williams got the Hard Knox Defensive MVP after workouts according to his twitter. This is one of the best pure athletic defensive lineman we've had in a long time. Last I heard he was still growing and would be a true DE in the 3-4 instead of a LB. Will be interesting to see his impact as a pass rusher in the 4-3 sets and what they will do with him in 3-4.

Dooley is either happier with the team this year since he is dealing with older players, or he has re-assessed the way he handles the players. He has been more hands-on with them and has tried to be more of a "regular guy." Gave the players two off-days after being impressed with their combine. A couple of weeks ago he conducted a Madden tournament and played against them.

And I love this quote from Sunseri:

"“What I want to do is that I want to put a product on the field where everyone who comes to the stadium says you know what, these guys are playing hard,” Sunseri said. “They are playing reckless. They are giving their bodies up for this University and they are making plays. That's the most important thing. What I'm looking at first is the discipline we come out on the field with. The discipline we play our technique with. Our toughness, our awareness of plays. Being smart and being tough is what we are going to be all about.”

Tyler bray got the MVP for the O. Has put on 20 lbs

Not being a smart aleck... but maybe you are hopeful rather than optimistic?

thanks! I think it will be interesting in the Spring to see the battle between Jackson/Fulton/Thomas

it is really nice to have competition finally and none of it coming from freshman

To be fair we signed zero freshman OL

I never understood why so many people were mad at him playing Worley. If he redshirted him, and Worley gets passed on the depth chart that just means 1 more year of where we couldn't use his scholarship.

Most college FB fans in the SEC are raging idiots. That includes US..UT:loco:

the OL was a very good pass protection group - I do think Dallas showed some issues against speed rushers - I remember the 2010 USCjr game he really struggled - I believe it was Cliff Matthews that really gave him problems

I have seen other games where he may not have given up sacks but he struggled getting out to the edge quick enough

at Guard though you really don't have to worry about that

Of course because workouts happen in Spring. Every fall since I've joined VN, football game threads have been started. Nothing in this thread was anything but informational (the starting OL heading into spring practice, Peterman bulking up to 220, Jordan Williams winning the MVP, and Dooley taking a different approach).

i should have been more clear. i really enjoyed your post and am very grateful for the information. my comment was regarding the following posts of elated optimism that happens every spring. i remember several years ago Vlad Richards benched like 600 lbs in the spring and on VN it translated to our lines were gonna be nasty. lol as for me, i will gladly read any inside info you have to share.

i posted a better explanation of my comment, but i have to be honest, NLV.... i think i am really slipping into negavol status. its not a conscious decision i have made, but years of fiery optimism in the spring, have been replaced with mild and calm hope. yes the team should be good, but in the SEC, good is much closer to bad than it is great, if that makes any sense. i understand the turmoil the university has endured, but i still have a hard time believing we have the leadership to return our team to prominence(sp). i do, however, always cling to my hope. Just about 3 scoops of Jack3D preworkout. I like to pretend I'm getting ready for a big football game right before my workouts. Can't a man still pretend at 34?

If it happens, I'm not going to say it was a terrible move. I am saying he did a good job against some of the top pass rushers in the SEC for the team that had the best pass protection...

I can not get excited about the hype anymore. I think that the disappointment from the hype leads to the fan negativity during the post season. But I am also waiting for us to hire a competitive SEC level coach and staff. And I hope it is not far in the future or this program is destined to become the Ole Miss of the eastern division. Great tradition but non-competitive.

Hey OneVol, One question for you! What expertise, crendentials, experience, do you have that qualifies you to KNOW what it takes to have good coaching staff for any SEC team?

UT allowed the fewest sacks in the SEC per attempt last year. No one got beat "alot". For all the things UT did bad last year, the one thing they excelled at was pass blocking.

Call it what you want...What about hurries? if Thomas is such a stud at LT for the past 2 seasons, why is the staff considering moving him to G?
