Xbox One Early Adopters Reporting Hardware Problems - IGN

With today’s launch of Xbox One, some owners are discovering various problems with their next-gen console.

An IGN reader's system is in an endless cycle of crashing and rebooting. Another has issues with his headset outputting nothing but static. Others have seen the "E100" notification, indicating a total hardware failure caused by an update error. The Xbox One troubleshooting page notes that this error requires you submit your Xbox One for repair.

You can do so via the Xbox Online Service Center.

Other new Xbox One owners have reported numerous issues to the Xbox support message board, including concerning issues with disc drives, unusual sounds coming from the machine, more spontaneous system shutdowns, missing pixels, and blank or frozen screens. Others can't get their systems to start in the first place.

In the video below, you can see the Xbox One making a horrifying grinding noise as the owner inserts a disc.

Of course, these are anecdotal instances of hardware malfunction rather than a representation of a larger, Red Ring of Death-level problem. That said, we've contacted Microsoft about solutions to these problems and any others. In the meantime, the IGN Xbox One Problems wiki page may have explanations for problems you may encounter.

My buddy has been having some nat issues since he setup his xb1. Or at least he thinks it's a nat issue maybe.

Never was a problem on 360, but when he was finally able to load bf4 the only servers it would show had zero players.

Sucks that you can't have confidence to buy something at launch. I've read a lot of people here say they wanted to wait for bugs to work out. I'm guessing this is exactly what they were talking about.

Yep. And it's only a matter of time before PS4 horror stories begin to leak out.

Early adopters always get screwed.

I'm sure I've only gotten lucky but I've never had trouble with launch consoles. PS3 and 360, I got launch editions and never had a problem with either.

There's already been some issues with PS4s. That's the con of owning a brand new console at launch. Gotta go through the risk of having a screwed up one. Hopefully these are all minor issues and that everyone around VN has clean consoles both on the One and PS4.

My controller won't sync with my xb1. Got everything hooked up, pressed the xbox button on the controller and it flashes for 10 seconds then stops. Nothing happens on the console.

Turn on the xbox console from it's power button.
goes through green xb1 screen and it puts up a pic of a controller with the xbox button flashing. I push the button on the controller again. It flashes and goes out after 10 seconds.

Followed all the xbox forums suggestions and it still won't recognize the controller. No matter what I do it won't work. Still have a stupid picture of a controller on my tv. Can't get past that.

Going to my buddies house down he street who's been playing xb1 today. Gonna try my controller at his house. If that doesn't work, gonna try his controller at my house.

I'd rather wait a week or two for a free warranty console repair than wait 6-12 months to buy it b/c I'm afraid of having to get it repaired.

All of the system bugs are reported x1000 at launch because people are looking for problems. Considering they probably sold a million of these on day one, you're going to hear of some issues. So far, I don't think there's been anything major on either system.

Turns out my issue was my controller wasn't paired to my xbox before it left the factory. My buddy found online it happens sometimes and got me before I left for his house. Took 10 seconds.

Now the only issue is I can't talk or hear my friends in a party. Works for 5 seconds then nothing even though I'm in with them. Squad chat works fine though.

Agreed. You only here about the ones that don't work. PS4 failure rate is pretty low and I am sure Xbone will be the same.

Knowing what i know about DPM because i manufacture millions of wire assemblies a day.Freak is 100% correct. If my first shipment everyone in the field is looking for every issue and if i have 3 defects out of the first million i will get a call from a CEO, after that when i have 30 defects for million parts emails are from construction crew members saying we have a small problem.
Im sure both companies are monitoring there DPM very closely and will fix these problems. Both companies are not fly by night companies they are established giants in there own fields. I think both companies had very very successful launches. Thats why both companies were tweeting to each other congratulating them on there launches. Now we get to be a part of both of these mind blowing systems.

When I buy them, and I know nothing about them, for my kids I always get the Best Buy Black Tie protection. If you have any problems Best Buy gives you a new one.

Can someone tell me the advantages of the Xbox One over the Xbox 360? I bought myself a PS3 but only for the blue ray for my home theater. Never bought a game for it.
