He had them ranked top in the top 5 in rushing, and they had a good defense. Not too mention they were competitive in many games. Its going to take a while to turn around that franchise. Name a coach that could do it in that amount of time.

Good point WDE...Just think when we have auburn fans scattered everywhere throughout there stadium because they have Many sections that are still unsold. I know a ton of auburn fans going that were unable to get them through auburns allotment

Exactly, given the management he had to work with, the fact that he drastically improved the the Raiders running game in a single season alone is a small miracle.

They won more games than they had previously under accomplished coaches Art Shell and Norv Turner. As for Iowa State, they went to bowls 5 of 7 years before Chizik rolled into town.

And? You're going to ignore recent success followed by a nosedive in wins because of crap that happened in the late eighties?

The Raiders were 15-49 in the four years before Kiffin.

The Cyclones were 23-27 with three bowl seasons prior to Chizik.
