Stupidity is a symptom of losing. If we were winning, we would be talking about how great the defense is at kicking butt, how we are naming our next son after the coach or QB, and how, despite the rising price of tickets, we wouldn't want to be anywhere else on Saturday.

Not that I agree with the idea that any high school team in the country could even beat Tennessee, I'm pretty sure that Zach Rogers just torched an SEC defense for 107 yards and 3 TD's. I'm sure I could name more if I actually cared to search.

I swear I remember reading this used to happen, but it was with the NCAA all americans each year, and it used to be before the draft or something, and they stopped it cause some got hurt.

I may be totally wrong on this, I'm talking this was like 4 horsemen days I think.

1930 New York Giants played a Notre Dame All-Star team in a charity exhibition game. It was the last game Knute Rockne coached before his death.

It was called Chicago All Star Charity Classic. I remember watching several of them in the 60's and 70's. I don't know how the pro team was chosen back in the 30's, 40's and 50's, but after the Super Bowl started in 1966?, the previous Super Bowl champs played the college all stars.

The game was very competitive through the 1950's. The last time that the college guys won was 1963. It became uncompetitive soon afterward with the pros winning the last 12 years. I believe that 1976 was the last game.

I was thinking that I remembered that Ron Vander Kelen was the quarterback in that last victory for the college all-stars because he was my football hero due to his performance in the Rose Bowl game that year.

I googled his name and Vander Kelen threw a 76 yard TD pass to hos college teammate Pat Richter, and beat the Packers. In the 1963 Rose Bowl, Vander Kelen brought the Wisconsin Badgers back from a 42-14 4th quarter deficit to give them a chance to beat Southern Cal. They fell just short at 42-37. He set several Rose Bowl records and some still stand today.

I was 13 years old then, but I have vivid memories of that game. It was the first time that #1 and #2 had met in a bowl game. Vander Kelen later backed up Fran Tarkenton for the Vikings for a few years, but never played much.

Anyone who thinks any HS team in the country, let alone TN could give us problems is an absolute idiot. Let me illustrate the difference in talent. DyShawn Mobley who played for Powell high school last year and broke records, hardly ever gets on the field at Kentucky. That should illustrate the absurdity of your comments. You are talking about Seniors in high school trying to match up against 22 year old men who are twice their size and 4 times as strong. Yeah, right. Duh.

How much did your body mature from age 17/18 to 22? I understand you are frustrated as we all are, but let's at least be realistic and mature in our comments.
