Solving "men on the field" issue:

believe it or not, a lack of depth causes a lot of these issues to reoccur.

If you have capable back-ups and someone "forgets" they are in the nickel, base, jumbo or what ever set is called out... well it usually only happens once because next time you're NOT in that package anymore makes you responsible for yourself.

I am sure the coaches are not just yelling someone get out there.
and whoever runs first gets to play.

but when you already have a JUCO shooting guard starting at DT what do you do if he forgets to go out there? put in a towel boy to teach him a lesson.

these things happen with a young team, and with teams that are thin...

so the fact that we are young and thin it shouldn't be such a shocking turn of events.

i just heard on 104.5 in nashville that we've had penalties for # players on the field for 5 straight games.

and either dooley or another member of the staff said the punt and FG teams will now consist of whoever is on the field on 3rd down. can someone else confirm this?

if true.... it's so LOL bad!! what if we have 6db's in on 3rd and long or short yardage 3rd down personnel? seems to make us vulnerable to fakes... especially when you announce it to all your opponents through the media.

if true... this is reflects incredibly bad on the staff.

:crazy::finger3:

Have not had penalties in 5 games for # players on the field. Listening to 104.5 is your first problem. We are the least penalized team in the SEC presently (which points to coaching) and the LSU penalty is the only flag thrown this year against the Vols for that. There have been times when they had 10 men once or twice (new players, coaches, trainers ect..) Bammer had to call a TO Saturaday for what looked like 15-20 players on the field,it happens. This thread reflects bad on the OP's mental apptitude, what a door knob!~ GO VOLS AND CDD DESPITE THIS BRILLIENT FAN!

Horrible. We had to use two timeouts this past game bc there were only 10 players on the field. ESPN even paused the game and counted, it was humiliating

Bamma did the same thing, looked they had 15-16 players on the field and called a TO,it happens get the ---- over it!!!!

Yeah, and the "only" time we got flagged for it, it directly caused us to lose a game.

Here's an idea, play just the starters & sub when they get tired. When ur making mass subs every other play this crap happens & there's no point in it. U can get the young guys some PT without doing things this way.

LOL. Were you one of those kids who flunked a couple grades?

The E and A aren't close enough to give you credit for a typo.

Not a problem for other teams but is for us. So, when you sub out, guy leaving the field hands guy entering the field his jersey. So if you look down and discover you have no jersey, get your arse off the field. Will look stupid, but we already do.

some times it is on the staff but if the HC comes up to you and tells you you're on FG block, bama lines up to kick a fg and you're still watching from the sidelines that's on the player.

Not when it happens for the 27th time. Then it is the coaches' fault.

the responsibility is the coaching staff's, but to absolve the players entirely makes no sense. Surely you don't believe that the coaching staff has ignored this issue or that they aren't emphasizing it at this point.

That makes it worse. It means that even though they are emphasizing it, they are ineffective at changing it.

All of you do realize that Alabama has had problem getting the right people on the field for 3 straight weeks, right? But it's the players in their situation, right?

It doesn't matter who it was, it's inexcusable.

So Bama's coaches are responsible for it too? Was Spurrier responsible that when he called a play that too many people went on the field vs. UK and forced him to burn a crucial timeout.

Why wouldn't the coaches share the blame?

I mean, I suppose you could be saying that our players are responsible. If you are blaming the players, you obviously aren't a true fan.

Dooley said "we are not good enough coaches to do it the other way, that's a fact"

He didn't blame the players.

Just throwing that out there.

Why would he blame the players anyway? 1) Coaches would be idiots to blame players in public for things like that and 2) 90% of the blame should be on the coaches anyway.

I never heard anything at Boise that Wilcoxs' defense always sent out 10 men or never heard anything at L.A. Tech that Dooley's teams had a problem with ten men on the field. This is strictly the player's fault. These kids have been playing football for a long time and should no better. I know alot a freshman are playing for us but when a player that has been with Dooley and this staff for 7months or whatever don't know when to be in there, then we are in for a real long climb. The LSU debacle I think was coaches and players.

listen from someone with age, bama was trying to get players off the field and on the field and realized this.

and someone said earlier that this had happen to them 3 weeks in a row, i would like to know them plays and see them on film, i bet money all of them they were trying to get men on and men off if it did happen.

my point is we have 12-13 players set for the play, or we are set with 10 and go ahead and play with ten and it is like no one notices this.

that my friend is a problem and coaching.

i support coach dooley we have to give him time, we should not fire him, give him time.

lets see what happens the rest of the season, recuiting this coming season and see what happens next season before we decide on going a different direction.

GO VOLS, WE CAN BEAT OLE MISS, VANDY, KY, AND MEMPH. WE CAN MAKE SIX WINS
