Sold On Jonathon Crompton?

South Carolina is terrible. I see Spurrier there for one more year... he's just embarrassing himself. Though I will admit I love seeing him frustrated. :dance2:

He seems disinterested. I thought after the Bowl that he might retire. Perhaps he is waiting until after signing day.

All 3 quarterbacks will try and prove themselves preseason again. Kiffin will pick his quarterback, hopefully not Crompton, and stick with him until the crap hits the fan. Kiffin is not building his program around either of these quarterbacks. The best bet is to stick with Stephens or Coleman because they will be in the program longer in case we don't land a stud next year.

If Stephens or Coleman wins the job in full. He will be our starter for at least the next 2 years.

Strikingly resembles another highly rated flop...... Garcia!! Although I'm not sure JC has actually thrown 4 int's in a game!!

Crompton is a proven flop he's been at UT for a while now, isn't he a senior this year? Garcia has plenty of time to learn and this year was his freshman year, by the way he didn't look too bad versus that vaunted Tennessee defense this year, did he? He has never thrown 4 picks in a game by the way. He threw about 1 pick a game which isn't too bad compared to MR. Crompton.

I do not think that you will find anyone here singing the praises of JC.

My bad, it was the 9 of 18, 3 pick performance vs Iowa I was thinking about...

End of debate for me.... I'm not going to waist my time arguing with someone who refers to Gamecocks and Beasts on the same line! :post-4-1090547912::post-4-1090547912:

See though heres the problem. I think Crompton has been failed by his coaches so far. Yes he's arrogant, egotistical, and pretty much a knucklehead....but he does have some athletic skills. So far he hasn't benefitted from the position coaching Ainge had, if he had...hed've been better. All things considered I see Stephens starting next fall in a pro style offense.
Interesting double contraction....shouldn't it be he'd've? I like it nonetheless. :p
Crompton had plenty of chances to perform and failed miserably. At some point, even a moderately talented QB will have a decent game, despite poor coaching. I agree with you that Nick Stephens seems to have the athletic skills, plenty between the ears, and leadership to get the job done.

Crompton is the worst college quarterback I have ever seen. The qb next year will be Stephens, Coleman or anybody else but Crompton. The only reason he possibly played last year was some kind of sicko relationship between him and Phil. They should have made it part of Phil's buyout that he had to take Crapton with him.

Go with Coleman, Stephens or Crompton are nothing compared to Coleman. Coleman should be the starter, he should be the one to start this off right.

If we dont get a QB...we will lose at least 5 games next year!.....maybe the coaching change will lead to an Ainge/Cutcliffe like turnaround.:good!:

And you know this how? His 8 passes in the Vandy game? Playing well in a JV game?

It's called the Hometown Hero syndrome. A nice local boy who makes good, so people jump on board. Joey Mathews was good in high school too, and more highly regarded than BJ.

yea i knida figured that! i mean i dont have anything against the kid but he had one good game in JV. i've listened to his interviews and he seems like a very intelligent kid that has a good head on his shoulders, but one good game in JV doesn't mean that he can come in and have the same performance against the big boys of the SEC. I hope he comes in and proves me wrong but vanderbilt put some pressure on him and he threw a pick six. but i would rather him play then crompton! if crompton starts next year i might throw up

I think if Crompton winds up being the starter next season and we win 8 games, he should get "SEC Comeback Player of the Year Award". I'm still astounded that he was recruited by USC. Stranger things have happened my friends, that's why they play the game.

would be sold on him. He had a terrible year. He's got physical abilities and experience, but he does not execute--does not complete enough passes; does not make plays. Maybe he will benefit from better coaching--along with the WRs, who were also bad last year. I think Stephens is better--didn't see Coleman. I think we should hope that either of these later two flourish under the new regime, as I can't see Crompton leading the team to many wins. I've been around athletics a long time--and the worst kind of guy is one who thinks he's a lot better than he is. That's Crompton--a legend in his mind but not, unfortunately, on the field.
