Sold On Jonathon Crompton?

You could say that about a lot of Tennessee Vols over the past 10 years, minus the years Cuttcliffe was here. I wasn't always down with his play calling, but he proved his worth with Ainge.

UT probably has had more backups make the NFL, than any other school. You could build a Super Bowl team with the talent that has been wasted in Knoxville.

Fulmer, for all he did for the school, was known for doing less with more.

In think Crompton "could" be good but Fulmer basically made him the starter no matter what. Bad habits are hard to break and no security blanket this time with Lane.

Stephens has the arm and attitude but needs to control it and learn to play smart.

Coleman hasn't had enough playing time and probably felt demoralized under Fulmer and given no chance. He has the size and smarts but maybe not the same arm as Stephens.

All are going to be equal off the bat with CLK and I just don't see Lane playing favorites like Fulmer. I still say Coleman may surprise allot because Cut saw something in him and Fulmer wasted it.

LOL, ok, Kiffin will let Crompton throw it out of bounds and at the receivers feet.....NOT!!!

Just stating my opinion as you did in your post above this one.

Truth is, not a single one of us knows who will start. CLK has said they will have a clean slate going into the spring

I believe that Crompton was a victim of poor coaching. Clawson tried to install an offense that left everyone on that side of the ball totally confused about what they were supposed to do, as was as was shown by the amount of times the QBs & Recs were on different pages. He turned our strengths (OL & RBs) into weaknesses; then started the season by taking an inexpearenced QB on the road with a game plan that required him to win the game (44 pass plays). I don't believe Crompton ever recovered. Stephens only looked better than Crompton in games were he played like he was trying not to loose (we lost those anyway). Once Stephens started trying force the issue and win, he looked at least as bad as Crompton and was benched.

This season I expect (hope) that CLK will put a unit out there that understands what they are supposed to do and where they're supposed to be. And in that situation I believe that Crompton gives us the best chance to win because he has the most raw talent of the three.

I tend to agree with u because Crompton did pretty good when he played for Ainge when he was injured. i think when coach Cut left it hurt him alot.

How could it hurt someone that Cut was never interested in?? Ainge was Cut's golden boy to get back to being a HC somewhere. Cut could have cared less about Cromp from all the reports I have read and things I have been told.

i know what u mean. i'm not saying i'm a huge Crompton fan but i'm not real sure of the other QB's we have.:)

I'd put my chips on Stephens or Coleman first. With that being said I did champion Crompton over Ainge in 2006, but have since learned my lesson.

I'm an excitable guy, what can I say?

ok i will give that one to u but what about the LSU game?

i remember sitting in the stands and watching crompton just sling it down field to a nfl receiver in meachem.. other than that he didnt show much then and definately didnt this season

All 3 need coaching.....but watching Coleman manage himself in the pocket, I would have to say he has the most pocket presents, and will be the man.

Whoever is choosen out of the three we already have on campus will be better coached and have superior protection IMO. I think alot of the problem was the coaching and the scheme.

Chumpton = Bust, suit up for Special Teams next yr son

the talent is not there, the mental ability to read a defense is not there, he is not a leader

Crompton's stats last season were better than Ainge's sophomore season, and though Crompton was older, Ainge had way more exp at that point, and was not trying to learn a new offense. The talent is there. It's up to the coaches to develope it.
