it wasn't nearly as deadly as they pretended it was. even amongst the seniors, who it did hit the hardest, it didn't change their rate of death very much.

I don't know how much it adversely impacted other statistics beyond death for them.

Rate of death is different than number of deaths.

It hit hardest on beneficiaries. Not so much on workers paying in. It was a financial windfall for SS.

“Not nearly as deadly as they PRETENDED”? Nonsense.

2018: 65-74: 1790 per 100k.

Remember excess deaths IN TOTAL only went up less than two hundred thousand. And we lose 3+ million a year. It was less than a 5% increase in deaths. Not 5% died, 5% more died than normal. We still gained population every year of covid.

Hardly worth shutting down the country and shutting down people's rights like they pretended.

Social Security is the biggest wealth redistribution of alll time.

Tie it to the 10 or 30Y T, reduce return by 25-40 bps for administration costs/disability and give everyone that ROI, social security would magicially be fully funded....

Someone making 30K a year shouldnt be getting a 6% ROI while someone making 75K is getting 3% and someone making $125K is getting -1%....

Just remove the cap on payment to the 'plan'. Problem solved. Now everybody gets to pay that tax on every. single. dollar. they earn to support the system. And ya'll better smile and do it, because in another few years I will be getting my money back.

And bump it to 6.75% from 6.2%. Nobody will notice except those that will use it to replace the lawmakers that voted to raise the SS tax. It’s past time for our weak representatives to nut up.

Package it with a bill that eliminates free health care for life for members of Congress.

raising taxes would be doubling down on make a corrupt system even more corrupt.

I would have opted out as recently as 10 years ago and let them keep what they took. But since they kept taking all throughout my peak earnings years, you're damned right I want what I paid for. And I didn't "buy" it. It was forced on me.

he said he didn't care about them having to double down on "it". I am assuming that means raising SS taxes. just so he could get paid back.

he is arguing for it now. he is arguing to make it worse. he doesn't get brownie points for being against it when it was convenient for him, if anything that makes him more hypocritical.
