2 late rounders last year and one 5th rounder this year.

Now think about our upperclassmen talent over the last couple of years compared with our competition and what UT football is used to.

And people say those are excuses. Gimme a break.
If you can't understand what that means to a football team in the SEC, you need to learn another game because you don't understand SEC football.

Are there things to be legitimately concerned about? Heck yes. But those "excuses" that the same ones laugh at can be backed up as you pointed out. I don't care if Dick VanDyke was the coach, I would not judge his coaching ability until he was able to enter a heavyweight fight weighing over 75 lbs.

It's early but there maybe a couple early rounders in the next group SRs. Rivera and Waggner. If DR leaves he will probably be highest UT pick in 3 years.

We had quality players but some were run off or they ran themselves off.

J. Jackson
A. Douglas
B. Coleman
B. Brown
N. RIchardson
M. Edwards

All of those players would have been juniors or seniors and draft eligible and could have made a team.

Not seeing what your point is in regards to this thread. Jackson could not stay out of trouble and really never did that much, being drafted on potential solely. A Douglas, well I think it is best just to not touch on that. Coleman would not have started over Bray. Bryce Brown never did anything at all. Nukeese Richardson is a big time bust, and after not doing anything at a kansas JUCO quit football entirely. Edwards went to Hawaii and was mediocre at best his first year there. So add in all of those players and we still would have had the same problems

so....how many threads are saying this

If the same people can point out the same crap in every post if the ff and people can argue about Phil fulmer like they are ritards, its not too much to make a special point that was made more obvious by the numbers.

Yet some are still in denial and argue about excuses and other bs. The draft the last 2 years shows everyone the truth about the program. For those that still can't grasp it, I don't know what else you need to know.

Next time the Vols really show at the draft in 2014. The draft is the real way to measure your talent level.

Bryce Brown played pretty well for a true freshmen, and did a nice job backing up Hardesty. How can you think he wouldnt have been better then Poole? Poole was a big disappointment.

Sorry for bashing a Vol but if Poole ran for the goal post like he ran for the sideline he would have got paid. He had the talent.

Yes, Poole came in with such high expectations out of high school. Huge disappointment for sure.

Perhaps the poster considered what Brown accomplished after he left UT when determining who would have ended up better.

It was all Phil's fault

there is a difference in a reason and an excuse - lack of winning the last 2 years was backed up by legitimate reasons - if it can't happen this year it will be an excuse as the talent is now here and I think DD will produce and show what he can do when he actually has a hand to play with

Dooleyite, IMO.

But you are absolutley right.

The level of talent was at a piss poor level towards the end of Fulmer's reign. Kiffin was no help.

Hope he turns it on like Arian Foster.

Auburn had one player drafted also and they played harder schedule. I think you need to learn another game because its not that hard to win 8 total games in the SEC.

So, you are telling me the talent was poor at UT?

No ****.

That's never been the question.

So without our best playmaker, our best LB, our best DB getting kicked off, and a QB that didn't play in a lot of the SEC games, which 2 do you think we should have won outside of Kentucky to get to 8?

@ Florida with the best WR in the SEC getting hurt on the first series?

vs. the East Champion?

vs. USCe with Worley starting?

@ Bama?

vs. LSU?

@ Arkansas?

Auburn played a backup QB for five games also. They still beat South Carolina and Florida.
