So why have no other schools hired Miles?

But, could Fulmer and Miles put together a staff that could get the train back on the tracks. The best cure for a damaged brand is winning.

hold on thare!

we don't need to hire no coach who will need Fulmer to help him hire his staff!

If he in fact does need Fulmers help. or will even accept it, then he is not the right guy for us!

We need a leader--not a dependent!

especially when it comes to Fulmer hiring assistants!

They view him like they viewed Fulmer, best days behind him. He'd be a good stop gap guy at this point, wouldn't expect him to do great things.

I'd almost rather see them go the younger route. We do need someone who will be a disciplinarian. I think Butch was a little too nice and played favorites a little much. We need the exact opposite of that. Oh and someone who won't lie too them.

I see lots of people gripe about Tee not having enough experience. Here we have one of the most experienced SEC coaches out there and that's still not good enough. Somebody should make a coach template or checklist for you guys to fill out so we can see who the "best" guy is.

miles has been waiting for the right situation he is being paid 135k+ a month from LSU so he wasnt going to rush into a decision and into a job that was sub optimal.

Y'all need to let go of this Tee at OC thing. Les will get a 5yr deal. Tee ain't waiting 5yrs and hitching his wagon to Les for to that long. Heck he don't even call plays on 3rd and long.

:hi::hi: Age as Miles is 64...although this will never be stated as the reason.

:
Miles won a National Championship and several conference titles. Yet, to my knowledge no one has reached out to hire him. Why?

Interestingly, there’s another coach we know who was fired who also had won a national championship, SEC titles and no one reached out to him either. Care to guess who?

I have known Phil a long time. I always thought highly of him. However, when he was named head coach of the Vols, I wasn’t so sure he was the right guy. What I failed to realize was that he was surrounded by great coaches. He had great coaches like Cutcliffe, Chavis, Kippy, Dan Brooks, etc.

Miles could also do well if he is surrounded with great coaches. Hopefully, we can recreate the magic of ‘98.

Probably because he ran an outdated offense that didn't work and was so stubborn, he let it cost him his job. He had talent, at least, equal to Alabama and was 3-7 against Saban. If he couldn't win a championship with that talent, how will he with a lesser roster?

3-7 is better than most coaches do against Saban.

Because Miles doesn't bring anything to the table. He's not a Spurrier, Frost or Leach who is an offensive mastermind. He's not a Patterson, Smart or Muschamp who is a defensive mastermind. He's a figurehead. He looks cute eating the grass though, and he's likeable. But Fulmer and Miles had better hire elite coordinators if we go this route, because Miles himself isn't bringing anything to the table that can beat our rivals.

The football program is the front porch of the University.

No one wants Les sitting on their front porch.

He is coo coo for cocoa puffs.

Who knows. Maybe he has been contacted about jobs and he turned them down, maybe his asking price was to high, maybe schools are shying away from him because of his age, maybe he was waiting for an SEC job to open up.....and the list could go on.

I am on board with anyone Fulmer hires. I trust him way more than the other clown we had doing the "search".

You mean except for the several championships he won? :thud:

Miles went into a hornets nest following Saban at LSU, he could not do anything right and still won big. Two years after being named head coach at LSU it got extremely intense for him when Saban was named head coach at Bama, and he still won in the face of daily criticism, in the SEC West, because he was not Nick Saban.

UT needs a head coach of steel to stabilize the program. There are only 2 other head coaches who could right the ship at UT and they aren't coming, Saban and Meyer.

I would imagine it has something to do with the fact that very few schools in the country could afford him. Don't see Miles working for 3.5 mil type money, which is what a lot of programs mentioned could pay a coach and the programs that could afford him are usually looking for an up and coming coach with the buyouts and what it would cost a university to make a change.

Bigger question is, why was Michigan never interested in him as a head coach? Played there and was an assistant for years on some pretty good teams. I would assume after LSU people didn't like his lack of offense and assumed he was done coaching. Also, some schools may have passed on him because of the allegations at OK State.

the fact that no one has hired him should speak volumes.

yes i am yelling........there is one simple reason other schools haven't hired miles because he sucks. His total offensive philosophy is so old school it is outdated. Why do you think lsu got rid of him.....all the fans were falling asleep watching his offense. If he ever got behing 7 points it was over because he refused to throw the ball. Absolutely, he is a control freak and there is no way tee martin will be offensive with him. Tee has too much sense , and wants to run his own , not les miles's !!!!! Why take a coach everyone in the ncaa does not want ?

He's washed out. Hope Fulmer realizes we need a young, energetic coach and not a 63 year old who best days are behind him. We will see.

Michigan knew who they wanted and actually got him. Les wasn't considered as there was no need to.

If you hire Miles it will be Jones part 2 !!!!! Actually Jones had a much better offense than you will see with Miles.

The only thing I worry about w/ Les is how he's going to develop the QB's on team, and be able to bring in our two commits. Need to nail the OC position.

Ridiculous post. Miles never won less than 8 games in the SEC and has shown that he can win 10 + games consistently in the SEC. Butch has nothing that could even sniff that on his resume. Miles isn't my first pick but to compare him to Butch is ridiculous.
