Assuming it's not Kippy(I think it will be):

Terry Bowden
Kirby Smart
Mark Whipplie, Uof Miami OC
Leach,
Stoops, pipe dream
Steele
Guy at houston
Guy at utah
Gary Patterson

Have we even offered it to anybody? Is it possible we have been denied by more people then we offered it to?

Just curious as to who the next choice is, if any. I still believe that as of now the best choice is to give Kippy the job for the year and pick it back up later on

And just what makes you think Kippy would take the job on those terms? I sure as hell wouldn't.

It's not like Kippy NEEDS to stick around and be jerked around. It would take him about 37 minutes to get a job somewhere else.

I'd tell Hamilton that you either cough up a real contract, or stick it.

I know Kippy accepting a 1 year deal is not a great chance, but we need to figure something out to buy us some more time.

There is a coahc that has flown under the radar for a while and he is a pretty good coach. His name is Steve Kelly. He lives in Birmingham, Al. He started out in small colleges and middle colleges and has a pretty outstanding record with 112 wins with 30 loses in 7 seasons His has help asst. at other major colleges like Vandy and Alabama before nick Saban. I think that he is ready for a major college and he would fit Vol nation.

Giving Kippy the job and Hamilton will be fired before the press conference is over.

Why not Houston Nutt. If he can win at Arkansas and Ole Miss just think what he could do at Tennessee. He would bring instant excitement.

I like the Boise State coach. Why are we nt taking about him. With more talent, his teams would be dangerous! He can obviously win big games.

Are you freaking kidding me? Houston Nutt and the word excitement have no business being used within 10,000 words of each other.

Well he has won in the SEC unlike some of the other names we are hearing. I don't necessarily want Nutt but I would take him over some of the others being rumored.

He recently got a nice contact extension, gets paid well and is not looking to leave. I realize Boise is no UT, but a lot less pressure to win there. I believe he flat out refuses interviews.

Leach comes with too much baggage. I really think MH should give Kippy the job.

Leach will be vindicated and he will receive a mountain of money. He's the best man for the job from day one and also best meets our needs of "doing more with less" in this era of more and more difficult recruiting battles in the SEC

if you're interested, google: mike leach kent hance emails dallas morning news

you'll start to see the total railroading he received by a very small group of Texas Tech administrators and one very influential Dallas booster

remember, he never laid a finger on Adam James. He sent him to a spacious room to spend practice while his teammates practiced out in the elements

Why not Mike Stoops? I think he has done a pretty good job at making Arizona competitve and I think he could do really good here with all of our resources.

Make an offer to Bud Foster...doubt he would take it, but hey it's better than most of the names I'm hearing now.

If not, just give it to Kippy this year and see what happens. Worst thing would be doing this again next year. At least we would have a lot more time to find the right coach.

In my opinion, that's the way to go. You're not going to be anybody who is a quality, long-term solution right now -- and you're at high risk of making a paniced, knee-jerk hire right now.

So make Kippy the interim coach of the upcoming season. If he does great, he gets to keep the job. If not, you have a jump on next year and are the first team out there looking for a great coach to take them into the future.
