So who is John Currie?

I just posted this too. Wonder how long Martin makes it at SC before this all starts again. Winning sometimes has a way of smoothing things over - but even that eventually isn't enough.

Then again maybe he has changed.

I think he has changed. SC was a last chance. I understand that cursing is part of the game, but Martin crossed a line and he has learned from it.

I think it was a masterful and impressive stroke of good coaching for Martin to tone down his team enough to get them a 7th seed so they could sneak up on opponents. Most quality coaches would have lost too many or won too much. :)

It's freaking South Carolina. If you think Bruce Weber is a good coach and Frank Martin is not, just go ahead and say it now so we know to ignore your basketball musings

Quote my post where I said Martin wasn't a good coach. Don't think Weber is a great coach but he's become this utter failure on our favorite coaching analyst show Rearview Mirrors Tonight. :) You should already know to "ignore" me with your bad ticker and inability to tolerate opposing viewpoints.

3* AD with 5* heart

Champion of Life

Kansas State won or shared Big 12 Conference championships in football, men’s basketball and baseball in the 2012–2013 academic year, and Currie was honored as one of four 2013 Under Armour Athletic Directors of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. The university has invested $190 million in new and upgraded facilities, including the West Stadium Center at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and a basketball training venue. In May 2015, a new football complex was under construction which was scheduled to open in September.

Sounds terrible

90% of the fanbase wanted Fulmer gone too. It was time for him to go. And he didnt fire Martin.

Try again.

I hate to question the science behind your poll poll but it is wrong. 90% is way over exaggerating the actual number. He deserved at least one more year.

I hope you have enjoyed the last decade of vol mediocrity!!!!!

You didn't come out and say it, that's my point. You just take veiled shots with stupid smiley faces at good coaches while defending crappy ones. I'd rather get straight to the point: Martin is a significantly better coach than Weber. Do you disagree?

Currie has been here for about 5 minutes, and while I hope he has all the success in the world, we don't have to already bend over backwards to act like he's made nothing but great decisions.

Yeah its a made up number but who cares. I was on these boards when he was let go and I remember nearly everyone here celebrating.

We havent been mediocre because he was fired. Weve been mediocre because we made 2 really bad hires after he was let go. CBJ has us in the right direction.

Long gone are the days of great teams down through the entire sports program. None of the lightweights we continue to hire can hold a candle to the Woodward's and Dickey's of the world. In the SEC we rank last IMHO in AD's and that includes Vandy who doesn't even have an AD.

Who did you want for AD? Just curious.

Good read, and I wouldn't put much weight into that page on 'jugofsnyder', that page was just wrote by a jilted fan up in his feels. Melted quicker than a snowflake in Miami.

As for Currie, a good portion of a 2017 AD is managing the books, he seems to excel there. On coaching, no one really knows. Hard to judge off just one coach, no? Goes either way, if Martin stunk at USC, some would claim Currie is great. My only concerns would be that he Only had one change, their baseball at KSU is horrendous, that would be my concern, not Martin.

This. The people who claim getting rid of Martin is the biggest indictment on his AD resume are reaching for negativity and must be bitter with UT sports in general. The guy hasn't even started his job yet, and people are already holding him over the coals. That being said, 2017 is a huge year for UT sports all around and if we fail to win the East, men fail to make the tourney, or women fail to get out of the second round again, we may be seeing some MAJOR coaching changes around here and I hope Curry has the guts to do it. Its going to be a whole lot easier to convince a coach to come to Knoxville than it is to convince someone to come to Manhattan, KS. There are great people there, but logistically, its a nightmare for coaches in recruiting.

You misstate my intentions whilst taking waaaay too much personal umbrage. And not agreeing with your OPINION that Weber is a "crappy coach" is hardly "defending" him. Frank Martin was a superior coach with anger issues...Currie fixed him. :) Sorry you don't like the smilies that Freak provides...ah just fusching with you, DON'T CARE. :huggy:
