So who is John Currie?

A little context here would be nice.

Martin took KState to the NCAA tourney his last 3 years there, 4 out of 5 years there overall. Never won less than 21 games and was one possession away from beating Kentucky for an Elite 8 appearance two years before Currie ran him off.

Additionally, when he got to SCar, that mecca of college basketball, they had just gone 39-53 the 3 previous collective seasons.

Moreover, he won 25 games there last season and was somehow left out of the NCAA tourney. He is now 52-18 the last 2 seasons at freaking South Carolina.

So yeah, our good buddy John Currie did indeed run off an outstanding basketball coach at KState.

K-State tradition I guess. Dana Altman, the Oregon HC got "run off" after a four year run in Manhattan...to CREIGHTON of all places! Wonder why Foley at Florida didn't hire one of the K-State cast offs? Florida would have been cutting down the nets. :)

Those folks with agendas crack me up. Anything to bash the school you supposedly support.

And for what - just because someone didn't listen to you and hire / fire who you want.

Grow up you can't have it both ways.

No agenda, just trying to bring some truth to your wildly biased post. A little truth if you will. You're frustrated because you got busted trying to frame the narrative you're pushing. Fact is, Currie, who has a history attitude issues and of not getting along with his coaches, ran off a very good basketball coach, period.

Half of Martin's last team at KState was transferring because Martin crossed the line in being a bully and having a foul mouth toward them. Martin saw hand writing on wall and left for SC. The narrative that Currie ran off Martin is untrue.

It's your opinion, KB.

To his credit, he seems to have learned and adjusted his Bobby Knight act.

I just posted this too. Wonder how long Martin makes it at SC before this all starts again. Winning sometimes has a way of smoothing things over - but even that eventually isn't enough.

Then again maybe he has changed.

He choose not to try to retain a coach when he realized that most of the players were transferring because of the coach. That is what a good AD would have done.

Had a few snafu's these last few years...but dramatically decreased. I think Currie helped round him a little. :)

Did you see him postgame with his players......not in danger of anything like what was alleged in that article happening at SCar anytime soon.

As far as winning "smoothing things over"....what happened to him sucking at SCar like you were trying to portray just a few posts ago?

Sure. Along those lines, should Hart have let Butch go given all those players transferring this year....especially those two 5 star players midseason? I know, they were just headcases while all the KState players were in the right and Martin was the nutjob, no?

Edit: also, let me guess. You buy that article on Martin after he left, it's all truth, no doubt. But the Travis Haney piece on discord within the Anderson complex regarding Butch was a smear, a hit piece, and nothing but lies.

Theres no denying Hurd is a headcase. As for Willams, I guess we'll see.

And conversely you've taken every internet rumor out of Kansas State as abject FACT, KB. Truth is usually in the middle. Can't be all one way. And Travis Haney's latest masterpiece painted him as agenda driven, imo.

He learned. Maybe he thanks Currie for bringing him some humility and enabling his success? :)

I think it was a masterful and impressive stroke of good coaching for Martin to tone down his team enough to get them a 7th seed so they could sneak up on opponents. Most quality coaches would have lost too many or won too much. :)
