So, who do you want now?

Who should lead UT in 2018?

I don’t do this because of money,” Patterson said after practice Tuesday. “It’s about job security for my staff, it’s about showing recruits that TCU’s committed to the long haul..."

Tennessee was almost paying Butch what he's getting with his raise

I'd be happy with:

Les Miles
Tee Martin
Mike Norvell

and content with:

Kevin Sumlin
David Cutcliffe
Lane Kiffin

I haven't seen an updated poll to as who people want as the coach since Fulmer took over as AD. Maybe I just missed it and I'm sorry. But. Who do you want? I'm listing what I consider realistic options. So no Gruden, sorry Grudenites. I put Kiffin on the "pole" (Never gets old) although I don't think its likely. But still not as impossible as Gruden.

I won’t vote in you’re pole. I could argue that some on your list are less likely than Gruden. Certainly doesn’t have the smoke around them that he does.

Other: Chris Peterson

IMO you have to make him say no. Best coach in America not named Saban/Meyer/Swinney. Has the makeup to be the best with all the resources UT has. Probably have no shot at him, but he’s my pick if I’m AD.

Agreed. But when he says no, and he will, Fulmer needs to hop in the car and drive 5 hours to make Leach say yes.

Definitely dodged a bullet with Schiano; we don't have time for a coordinator who might be moving on to the playoff cause we got oh wait we don't have anyone.

you guys that want Kiffin, Leach, and Martin over Miles are ******* high

Where do you project these guys in the next 5 years?

We want to compete for championships. We see offensive minds that we need.

One old white guy just isnt enough to re eastablish cred, lets get 2 old white guys. That will really help w recruiting.

I did some quick and dirty analysis of how most of the candidates people have talked about performed vs recruiting rankings. The results were interesting enough that I wanted to share them here.

I used the Rivals Recruiting rankings to compare the total number of stars per school and weighted them by class (Sr-40%, Jr-30%, So-20%, Fr-10%) to compare approximate roster strengths of each team. I did not factor in attrition in this analysis.

I pulled the 4 most relevant full years from each coach in the list (except Chad Morris who I pulled 3 years for) and calculated the difference between expected wins based on talent vs. actual wins.

The quick results are as follows in alphabetical order:

Brohm +4.0
Cutcliffe +3.25
Fuente +1.75
Franklin +0.25
Gundy -0.5
Jones -2.5
Kiffin -2.75
Leach +4.0
Miles -2.25
Morris -0.25
Mullen +2.5
Patterson +3.5
Petersen@Boise +2.75
Petersen@UW -1.25
Petrino +1.25
Schiano -1.25
Shaw +2.0

I don't understand all the Leach love. To win championships you gotta run the ball and play defense. Those areas would not be a point of emphasis under Leach. Also he isn't known as a great recruiter. I could be dead wrong but I think Leach would struggle mightily in the SEC.
