So who do you hire?

I appreciate your points, but I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on the players and their attitudes. Actually, I agree that sometimes they APPEAR to be lackadaisical, but I don’t think that’s actually what’s happening. It’s so much deeper than that.

It’s well past time for a new coaching staff. Though I kept my opinion to myself initially, I was among the group of people who knew from Day One that her hiring was a huge mistake. I hate it for Holly that it hasn’t worked for her personally, but I’m definitely more concerned about the program overall than I am about Holly’s pride being bruised.

Appearing to be lackadaisical once is an appearance, after these many appearances, it's a problem. Either they have it internally, or Holly has caused it. Perhaps coaching can change it, only that will answer the question.

Everyone but friends and acquaintances of Holly knew she wasn't the best choice. Handpicking virtually never works, Pat was either too blinded by personal feelings, or hoped that perhaps she'd grow into it. Either way, it rarely works. Those who've stood behind her all this way have done so despite the facts. Giving every benefit of the doubt. That's why it has taken to this point to over power their stance and see the Holly for what she really is. A career assistant that every other team in the country didn't want to hire away to run their program.

They may win the Ole Miss game, but they will probably be one and done in the SECT and not make the NCAAT. When that happens she will probably retire so not to be publicly fired. Be patient folks only a few more games to go. The team looks like they have quit on her, I don't see them making it thru the SECT.

Isn't that kind of thing getting so old it's beyond moldy. Sure, the first guy to write a big fat check for the Foundation to fight Alzheimers would tear down her statue. Hopefully one day you'll be in a league of your own.

Well first of all, and you may not realize it, but Geno would never get and offer from TN nor would he ever accept an offer from TN, so you don't need to be concerned with tongue-n-cheek comments about what he would do with the statue. I do not like Geno after being involved in his recruiting tactics I personally witnessed with players from my daughter's AAU team a number of years ago. I do not know anything about a check, certainly he could afford it and write it off, but he was the only guy slouching in his seat during Pat's memorial with his tie loosened, and had a look on his face that he did not want to be there. You can love him as much as you like.... I will allow it. (BTW.. that is also a tongue-n-cheek comment)

Lady Vols 'part ways' with assistant Kyra Elzy

Lets all remember Elzy disagree with the way Holly was running the team and the way she was coaching the players being soft. I think Kyra Elzy will turn this team around and fast. She and Bridgett Gordon should be giving a opportunity or interview for the job.

Lol, exactly, they knew coming in it would be a gravy train. Easy life. No pressure because the coach is a pushover. We may need to purge the roster and the coaches to get this fixed.
For real dude! You forgot the rest of the "gravy train", suck frequently on TV, break every negative record the once proud program could possibly come up with, have numbnuts on the internet questioning your moral fiber for not being more upset about it all. Who wouldn't want that?

Even if you assume their slacker attitude makes them incapable of caring about the team or the school, which of these elite athlete egos do you think want to look bad on tv and be known as a wash out at the end or their careers? I think we can rely on at least enough "effort" to try to make themselves look good. Think poor MeMe is ok ending up not being able to find the basket with a rangefinder just so she never had to go through a tough practice? Rennia Davis looking like she's in a hostage video worth a few less windsprints?

I can agree in general that kids and parents may choose a coaching style they think they can flourish under. Some don't respond to in your face, others do. I don't buy that the choice is all about less hard work but rather about an environment they think they can thrive and succeed in. What nobody chose, I feel safe in saying, was a coach so utterly lacking in coaching intangibles and team management that they'd never be able to respond and develop and would join the long, sad line of disappointing careers under CHW.

True, every person likes what they like in a coaching style. These girls must have some drive, some pride, something. They didn't achieve such high regard in recruiting and high school just by their height and weight. It's just more of an indictment on Holly as a coach. She's a chump to her own team. Who respects and wants to play for that person?

"I was simply BLESSED to be back on Rocky Top for another 4 years of my life," Elzy wrote on her Instagram account on Tuesday. "I have the utmost respect for Holly, the Lady Vol program, and everyone associated with a place that I LOVE. I'm truly honored to have coached at my alma mater."

Kyra Elzy thanks Warlick, plans to coach again

I think Phil Fulmer will interview Kyra when it comes time to look for another Tennessee women's basketball coach. Kyra Elzy is a legit candidate for the job.

I don’t think Fulmer will pull the trigger.
If they win the first game of the SEC tournament and somehow do not get killed against MS, they may get in the tournament. Depends on how the other tournaments turn out. If they get in the the tournament, I would be surprised if she was let go.

If Tennessee goes to the NCAA Tournament I think Holly will be given one more season. If that happens 2019-2020 will possibly be Holly's SEC farewell tour

IF Holly is fired, UT will owe her hundreds of thousands of dollars, and UT is still paying Butch Jones about $2.5 Million per year.

Heck, UT may go the real cheap route and hire Coach Jumper.

It’s unfair to her but I doubt she gets consideration unless Holly specifically tells Fulmer to give her a shot. Fulmer is going to want to do this in a way for Holly to save as much face as possible. Hiring the person dismissed by the person you are now dismissing could be seen as rubbing it in Holly’s face. Doubt they go there...

It’s good that your holding out hope but look at it from a committee standpoint

There are far to many reasons why they shouldn’t compared to why they should. Winning the tournament would only get a maybe for me.
