So Who do you have for DC?

If it were Steele,(it is NOT)our recruiting class would take a big hit.

The one thing I can say is that in both 2009 and 2010 Clemson had a top 15 defense, so everyone is judging the guy from one season and even more so one game. I think Steele is still a solid 2nd or 3rd option on the list. Much better option that Greene!

The Chief is not coming back and in essence said so on The Sports Animal yesterday AM.

The only thing funnier than the idea of Fulmer having a twitter account is that anyone would be following it....

Ok. I don't take twitter that seriously and follow a ton of people, but if that makes me sad then so be it. Fwiw, I don't think it's really him.

I think that Sunseri has accepted a three year deal at $850,000 per year

But I am 100% guessing.

Ole Dooley is really good at this 'keeping stuff a secret stuff'. You got to give him that!

One thing though about those that say Greenes 2-4-5 wont work in SEC. Correct. I don't think he would use that though. I think at the Naval Academy its hard to get a slew of Big boys to play in trenches so he uses that out of necessity. I truly believe he would run whatever necessary. Now am I saying he should be hired but his current scheme does not bother me.

University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site

UT sports just says 3:30 Derek Dooley press conference, so I would assume it would be to announce a DC hire or to discuss where they are at with the hiring process...although not sure you would call a press conference unless you have hired someone.
The press conference is to introduce Jay Graham and to talk about roster changes. No announcement of the DC scheduled yet.

Using only common sense through the simple process of elimination.....The only choice is Sunseri !!!

Do you think they are necessarily going to tell you that they are announcing the DC hire? Although they may add it to the list for the press conference we shall see...right!? :)

Conventional wisdom says Sunseri, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it could be Steele just as easily.

A few nuggets that make me wonder:

Nothing has leaked overnight. If it was Sunseri, you'd think something would come from that side. At Clemson Steele's already out.

Timing of Clemson announcement is interesting - Clemson announces Steele is leaving for 'other opportunities' and then later that day UT magically has a DC? Coincidence, maybe, but maybe not.

Connections. Steele and Hart have a history. Sunseri is very close to his sons, and Vinnie is a freshman at Bama. He's said the biggest gift was to be able to coach on the same team with his son. Sure, Vinnie could transfer and that may happen, but it easier to simply not come in the first place.

The Saban factor. Nick's known as a tough negotiator and he obviously doesn't like to lose. I have to think he'll do everything he can to convince Sunseri to stay, rather than go to a conference rival who he plays every year. Plus Nick knows Kirby Smart is likely to be a HC somewhere after this next season. Sunseri is his DC-in-waiting.

In the end, who knows?

Exactly and why would he? He can't recruit and he's in the perfect situation to where all he has to do is coach.

Chief now calls LSU his family and has moved on. You are right - with the athletes they have down there all he has to do scheme, play call, and coach them up. He still considers his 20 years at UT as special, but indicated no desire to rekindle the romance. It was also clear he had received a call from the UTAD about it but in a classy move said it would not be appropriate for him to comment about it. No denial it happened however. He didn't have to comment, anybody listening could figure it out. I am glad they gave him the courtesy of the call.
