Should probably note how many games each player started before cherry picking stats
Not cherry picking stats, and the website I got the information from didn't list games started. I'm not even suggesting it's an equal comparison.
Just wondering if we are really going to get this huge upgrade, and if we do (and I certainly hope we do) how much of it is talent and how much is Heupel?

and what does this mean?
I'm honestly not sure. I guess it means they both had below average seasons last year, for whatever reason.
More of a comment to those saying we are automatically getting better because no more JG.

I certainly expect to get better due to better coaching. And I am certainly hopeful that Heupel is the guy.

But I've been burned before so I gotta set it to believe it.

JG 2020 stats - 1112 yds passing, 6 TD's & 4 int
JM 2020 stats - 1077 yds passing, 4 TD's & 4 int

Better hope Heupel is a huge upgrade coaching wise.

If Milton doesn't pan out, I know we have at least one QB in the room that can help us. He might not be a perfect fit in Heupel's system, but from what I saw last year, he is good enough to produce wins.

A teatless cow could produce more than JG. It's a low bar but Milton is better based on his playing time at UM.

Why do fans still degrade a player even after he is no longer on the team? Question fossilfiction... what position did you play in a D-1 Power 5 school? Does it make you feel better to tear someone down that you couldn't even carry that young man's jockstrap? Anyone one that tears down or ridicules a college athlete IMHO is one of 3 things.1) immature. 2.) a bitter peewee player. 3) A know nothing. How about you try going to team meetings, a full class load, lifting at mandatory workouts, or in the off season busting your tail to get better and lifting on your own which JG did. But no you feel the need to tear him down. Sorry but to me IMHO that's pathetic and you should rethink your thoughts on these splendid athletes even if they don't meet YOUR high standards of what you think they should be.

If you're happy tearing these kids down then by all means continue but what if Milton, Hooker, and HB don't meet your expectations? I'm sure you'll chime in on that. SMH, until you've done this on this level or any level in CFB... I'd rethink tearing them down.

Milton and Burrow had a limited sample size, JG had multiple years of suckery.

Not really defending the guy as I think he should have been benched many times, but JG ranks 7th in Tennessee history in most QB passing categories (6th in career TDs). Either we really have had some sh*tty quarterbacks in the past, or he simply didn't have the supporting cast to translate those stats into wins. Of course, one things the stats also don't tell you is the times he made bonehead plays/turnovers that probably cost us the game. Hopefully, this is the true separation between Milton and him.

Tennessee hasn't had many QBs play for 4 years. We only have like 3 guys who have passed for more than 3000 yards in a season. If you look below him on most of those lists, it's guys that didn't play much or had disastrous years. Every guy from the modern era that has three years of experience is above him on those lists. Dobbs, Bray, Ainge, and Clausen.

I agree. I should’ve used quotes so ppl would know those aren’t my words. I asked what he thought about Milton. He hesitated for a couple seconds and said, “He’s trash”.

I’m not expecting him to be a world beater. Just hoping he’s better than JG and does some things to showcase Heup’s coaching ability[/QUOTE

Well you did and he's not So leave it alone.

Instead of so much angst over who CJH starts against Bowling Green, why don't we all just accept that it is going to be Joe Milton. If it is someone else we can all be pleasantly surprised. And then each poster can say "I told you so".

Why would it be a "pleasant surprise" if it is someone else?

So when will starting QB be named ?

Here's the deal, as far as I am concerned, they could name the first game starting qb the Saturday after the BGU Thursday game... vs BGU, it shouldn't matter who starts, it matters who does what during their playing time in quarters 1 & 2 and maybe midway through 3.
I'm more interested in who starts and succeeds against Pitt.
If the BGU game is some sort of UT nightmare, then we probably have bigger issues than just qb.
