You can't have the $hit storm that happened yesterday and expect to survive your job. Look I don't know (nor does anyone else here know) what happened during the coaching search and if they say they do they are LIARS.

I don't care if our top 5 choices all turned us down, Schiano was not a splash hire. Forget the PSU crap, he's a .500 career coach. Hire an up and comer before your hire a .500 Big east coach.

I like Currie, he talked a good game. He did not back it up. He cannot function as AD after this disaster. He needs to resign.

Several need to go with him.. Like the president and the chancellor. Also ban the Haslams from ever having a say in anything ever again. I don't know why you'd take advice from the owner of the Cleveland Browns anyway. Worst franchise in football..The UT administration may be the worst in college football.

No serious coach is going to take UT seriously as long as Currie is still AD.

Also, with apologies to whoever already said it in another thread, any potential coach would know they were Currie's second (or third or fourth) choice and not even answer the phone.

The only hope for a good hire is a full reset and clean start.

They have reason to hire him to the Browns now the team is 0 and 11 and expected to finish 0 and 16. They can use Schiano there maybe he can win them a couple of games.

Makes a lot of sense. Haslams interviewed Schiano. Liked him. Put him on the backburner until the Vols job opened up.

Pitiful.

Makes a lot of sense as to why Gruden was dropping hints and singing rocky top and such now. And then David Blackburn coming out and saying Gruden would want the job if offered.

And Chip Kelly saying he was never contacted by the Tennessee admin.

Schiano was #1. End of story. Currie and the Haslams teamed up to bring their guy in.

Horrible. What a dumpster fire.

National embarrassment of EPIC proportion.

30 year fan here questioning my loyalty to this flaming dumpster full of ****.

On the bright side...we dodged a bullet. Schiano may have been decent coach actually...but outside of the pedophile links...or partly because of them....I think he'd be a recruiting disaster. We'd be a hard nosed...disciplined team of 2 and 3 stars. Basically Northern Illinois or Western Kentucky.

Sadly, he won't be fired until our dysfunctional leadership, board, and super booster comes up with the story to make Currie the sole cause of this debacle. You don't think the House of Haslam will allow this filth to touch their "squeaky clean" image do you?

Pretty sure Schiano almost got the Browns job when Hue Jackson was hired. He was definitely interviewed.

If you go back and look there are articles of Haslam being all in for Schiano for Browns coach after being recommended by both Bill Belichick and Urban Meyer. Apparently Belichick called twice but Joe Banner didn't think much of Schiano. IMO Schiano has been the top choice from the outset, even Ohio St has said before Butch got canned that Currie was already inquiring. This was the Haslam's choice they just had no idea it would blow up in their face like it has.

You have all this confirmed? Seems a likely story and that they were targeting Schiano a long time ago. What a cluster, there were so many other good candidates out there they could have zeroed in on starting after the UGA game. Disgraceful

Haslams definitely like Schiano. Have for sometime. He interviewed there in 2014. Read another article that they really were impressed by him.

Pure insanity.
